I’m still in chock how buggy it is, it even worse then macOS 13 beta 2.
I don’t know how beta 3 is as I have not installed it yet

Seeing as they broke Applescript that probably had effects all over the system.

But... why didn't this come up in testing?!

As I have been rightfully reminded, those of us who are using a beta version of the OS on our main work machine should have known better... I would never let an engineer install beta software for a customer unless this is on the express recommandation of a support team to fix an issue. We even rarely install .0 Versions on a production environnement because experience taught us to wait for the first or second service packs...

Betas are made for testing and we should not take the stability of a beta software for granted, even if it's a fifth beta as we are clearly being demonstrated right now. I reverted to beta 4 like @jcscol did and will definitely be more cautious before I install another beta version, at the very least waiting a few days and making sure it's been tested by other enthusiasts before I take such a risk. Some might disagree, but as much as I am tempted to blame Apple for the loss of productivity today, I am the one who choose to install this beta without thinking twice about it.

Lesson learn again (at least until autumn lol 🤣).

Good luck to all.

Oh, this is absolutely true. But it's also really odd for Apple to merge in breaking changes this late in a beta series. So a lot of us are going "WTF?!" because this is very atypical.

I absolutely don't run betas on critical hardware, and can easily revert if things go sideways, so it's not a big catastrophe for me.

Also, clicking on minimized applications in the dock isn't opening the window. I have to right-click and select a window (even if there's only one) from the list. It's not consistent though - some work and some do not.
I am having the same experience. For me, all apps do not re-open on click. Really annoying, but manageable until a fix can be put in place.

Have they fixed the NSPOSIX errors in Safari? So bad now I've had to switch to Chrome as my default browser. Starting to tire kick Android and Windows...I really would rather not but you lose so much by not being able to reliably use Safari.

On M1 Mac, after reboot, I can click trash icon on the dock to open it, or bight click to empty trash. But it work only a couple of times, then, clicking on the trash icon in Dock do nothing. This is same as Finder.

My worka4ound is to use shift-comm@nd-option-delete to empty trash

to open trash, I have to either go to force quit, then relaunch Finder. That fresh start of Finder will make trash iconnwork again for a couple of times.

Apple release this beta without enough testing. I hope that they will release beta 6 faster than 2 weeks cycle.

I hope the coming final Release 12.5 have a permanent solution to the MBP facetime Camera issue!

Because—if it isn't clear by this point, I can't help people—Apple has never implemented automated QA unit testing. They're sending releases out by the seat of their pants.

There is no other reasonable explanation. This is QA 101 level garbage. Just mind-blowingly bad.

Rollback sorted my issues

It's even simpler than that - they are on to the next big thing - Ventura - There are issues with Music that have been around since it changed from iTunes that have still not been addressed

Besides the 3 Kernel Panics I've had last night and this morning already, I'm finding apps that have been opened and then clicked the Red tick to close (but not quit) the app, are not opening again unless I Force Quit the app. This includes the Finder app, too. One of the times I had to force reboot, after logging in it looked as though Finder launched (small dot under icon in the Dock), but I had no Menu Bar and clicking on the Finder icon in the Dock didn't open a window. ANOTHER reboot 'corrected' that. For Safari, I'm still able to utilize the Menu Bar to get to my Bookmarks to open a page, even when the app itself isn't showing on my screen when I click it from the Dock.

This recent beta has probably been THEE worst Beta I've tested in many many months since the earlier Monterey betas. Steer clear if you're able to.

really crazy to me. I know it is a beta but we are on beta 5 of a point release … how does a completely new bug like this happen … we are talking about Apple here, not a small start up on a budget
It’s because they did not QA test it before the released it.
It happens, same for me sometime I think that this will not effect x so I push out the release just testing the area that I think it should effect.
People get mad as it’s giving them bugs 😅

**** happens. I’m not working at apple but the company I’m working for still has much of dollars.

Everyone always seems to point out when there's an 'h' build or something, like the latest Ventura build being 22A5295h, it's probably got more issues.. Meaning that it's the eight build of the day. To me, that means they found issues and QA sent it back, next build.. etc..
Seeing an 'a' build, 21G5063a, for a point release like this (Generally thru history, a .5 release is a good one!) and still having these pretty major issues, though?? Yeah that's bad.

Something horrible here - right click on Documents or Applications in the dock and click "Open in Finder" and I get an error, "The application Finder can't be opened -609".
Finder can still be opened by double clicking the Macintosh HD icon.
Upgraded from b4. The only other new thing was uninstalling Intel MS Teams and installing AS MS Teams.

Yup same here, nothing has changed for me so its clearly a bug, have you reported it via Feedback Assistant?

I've entered FB10587406 for the issue with not being able to open apps again from the Dock once closed. Anyone please feel free to reference that Feedback ID if you're also reporting it. The more the merrier.

I wonder if it is also broken in the just released macOS 13 beta 3?
Nope... was so fed up with 12.5b5 I decided to take the jump to 13 b3 (as my MAC was prompting me to do so)..... glad I did... so much better than 12.5 b5 and I am really digging StageManager..... been 2 days now and not had a single issue apart from configd crashing once...

Yeah, I'm starting to lean this way, too. I'm sure Apple would rather have us testing Ventura anyways. This release (21G5063a) is just horrible. Even rolling back to macOS 12.4 would leave me dealing with the issues I had THEN before trying the macOS 12.5 betas to fix my issues. It might be another month+ before some things get addressed. It's probably 'all hands on deck' for Ventura before they start squaring away Monterey.

It's also troubling with open apps from the Spotlight search (cmd+space) it seem to only be a issue if the app already is open.

I've had to resort to putting most apps I use into Full Screen mode and then just swipe thru them. And even then, with Safari open in Full Screen, I get an error opening the link to your post from my Email (Spark, not the Mail app). This is all VERY troubling as things have been shaping up for a solid 12.5 release. The prior beta ran excellent for me.

Again, this error comes up when opening a link in an Email.
