Apple today seeded the fifth beta of an upcoming macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, two weeks after seeding the fourth beta and over a month after releasing macOS Catalina 10.15.4 with Screen Time Communication Limits, iCloud Folder Sharing, and real-time Apple Music lyrics.

The new macOS Catalina beta can be downloaded from the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences after installing the proper software from the Developer Center.

macOS Catalina 10.15.5 introduces a new Battery Health Management feature for Mac notebooks, which is designed to extend the overall lifespan of a Mac's battery by reducing the rate of chemical aging.

The Battery Health Management feature analyzes the battery health of a laptop and its charging pattern, and in some cases, will preserve battery longevity and health by not charging a MacBook to its full capacity, which can reduce battery life.

When a Mac is used plugged in and the battery is largely kept full, Battery Health Management will kick in and will stop short of a full charge. The feature can be enabled and disabled in the Energy Saver section of the System Preferences app.

The macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update also addresses an issue that caused large data transfers to RAID volumes to freeze up the Finder app. With the update, large data transfers will no longer cause Finder to become unresponsive.

After installing macOS Catalina 10.15.4, some Mac users began experiencing occasional system crashes, primarily caused by large file transfers. The new update should successfully fix the problem.

Ahhh common Apple! I was hoping for the final release today :(
I want that battery feature so bad because I am very hectic with the way I handle the battery on the MBP....
Wow, I was expecting a release today too! Hmmm, maybe they are going for some serious stability improvements?

Well putting probability and plausibility in perspective.

Plausibility: they prioritize iOS over Mac OS.
Probability: 50% they work on serious stability improvements. 50% they prioritize iOS over Mac OS.

:)

Whatever it is, I was hoping it comes today. I don't have big issues with Catalina but it's definitely a lesser OS than Mojave for me.
I pray they improve it and they take their time....

agreed. I’ll probably build a hackintosh given they don’t take the platform seriously as they used to. This MacBook will be my last as I’m tired of lackluster support and development. Surprising for my household having gone from Apple lovers to just this is the least offensive option.
Throw that in one of your keynotes mr cook. “Customers stay with us because we aren’t the worst option.”....

Was it pulled? It's not listed on the releases page.

It’s still there Apple have not updated the page yet I got before macrumors mentioned it switched my MacBook on at 18:05 and there came a notification an update was available it almost 3tb in download size.

It’s just another Beta installed on non test machine and it asked for analytics which a GM candidate wouldn’t release must be a least a week or 2 yet last beta was 2 weeks ago
Not true macos never has a gm and the last beta is always the same build but with a number so it does need another public download but it is the final build
