typical reply, although apple tech support told me that directly. there are more of us with problems than you think. hopefully Mac OS updates can fix current issues. I see by your hopes that you wish for a fix. currently can't push the graphics card without an issue,. heres to hoping!!

sad to say thats an issue with adobe. apple directs you over to them. what apple should do is provide an optoin like windows, and give you the El Capitan and upgrade latter when current software providers update to newer os.
[doublepost=1481039230][/doublepost]It's sad I can't even get El Capitan to upgrade to at this point. I'm stuck having to keep upgrading and reverting when it doesn't work.

I've been using macs since 1989 but I'm ready to switch to the new windows surface desktop. Apple is a consumer electronics company and has been for a long time. It's not about brand loyalty anymore but using the best tools for the job

Do you seriously think the 10.12.2 updates only consists of changes to emojis? o_O;)

Of course there will be other changes and bug fixes. Why Apple won't list them in more detail, I don't know. But I'm quite sure (even if I haven't tried the 10.12.2 beta) that there for example will be new graphics drivers for the various graphics cards that are in Macs capable of running macOS Sierra, just like there has been for more or less every .x update for OS X throughout the years.

Obviously, I don't think that emojis are the only thing, but you pretty much covered it. I'd like to see REAL release notes that cover any/every change/fix. I'm just so tired of just seeing "New emojis and other fixes" or whatever.

Yup, I agree!

Updated to the latest Beta last night, did a second reboot after install just to make sure everything was running clean. Using a 2016 13" MBP w/ TB (base 512gb configuration, 2,9Ghz CPU and 8GB RAM) connected to a wifi-AC router 30 feet away, screen set to 70% brightness and only Safari and iMessages running. Only activity was reading the news and commenting on a couple sites I follow like this one. No videos or music playing aside from the occasional ad which I shut down as soon as they started (adblock is nice but it isn't perfect.) Came across a post mentioning the new beta fixed the battery drain issue so I took a screen shot:

31 minutes later, I took a second screen shot:

So that's ~15% in ~30 minutes. Yes I'm rounding to make the math easier. If I continued this usage under these conditions, under a full charge my system would shut down in about 3.5 hours. Maybe 4 hours if I shut off Bluetooth, which wasn't connected to anything at the time but I'm being generous. Contrast that to the 8 hours I routinely get from the 2015 13" MBP with max spec'd CPU, RAM, and 512gb SSD I purchased at the same time to decide which I like better for the next 3-4 years as well as the "up to 10 hours" under these same conditions Apple promised at the Keynote and on their product website. Basically, Apple has a real problem on it's hands. Even with the smaller battery, the more efficient CPU should theoretically put the two roughly neck and neck in terms of battery life, but that is clearly not the case, not even close. Also, the Chrome bashers can shut up about Chrome, because clearly you can see I was using Safari, which itself has been a leaky mess to the point of making me consider downloading Firefox just to see how that browser does. I have until January to decide which system I'm going to keep, but right now it's not looking real great for the 2016.

Basically, MacOS so far has been one huge steaming pile. Good god, what is happening at Apple lately?

uhm, did this installed itself overnight? it seems so? I opened my rmbp this morning and saw a notification 'macOS installed 10.2...."
that is definitely new as the evening before I haven't received any notification or request to install overnight.

Also, stop emoji bitchin'

Why? What's happening? Most people using macOS just fine?
Graphic glitches, battery drain, memory leakage, rampant crashes? Peruse the support pages over at Apple.com if you're curious. It's like Lion all over again.

Anybody using this version of sierra having problem with mouse scrolling?
Does smooth mouse scrolling or 1 notch scroll work in this version?

Occurring mostly on a newly released machine that was probably supposed to ship with 10.12.2 final. But many people including me are not having issues at all because we're not running apps that are clashing with 12.1

If you have been around long enough you'll know that it always take a couple of updates for new hardware to running free from fresh bugs.

So, I came here to criticize Sierra battery life.

However, even on El Cap now I still get battery weirdness. I often can go most of the day on my 11" Air, but today I blew down 30% of a battery in 30 min. I must have hit some magic combination of apps that just became a gigantic battery suck.

Which makes me think that going back up to Sierra might not the worst thing when 10.12.2 comes out.

true, new os's take a few updates to work out the bugs, but with apple taking so long on the MacBook update its questionable. skylake has been around, and established, no excuse for all the bugs and crashes. apple could have held off Sierra longer to work it out. no, they wanted to push Siri like windows pushed Cortana. Imo, apple should have allowed users to purchase the new machines with el captain and upgrade when the apps and software updated to work with Sierra. what we get is a company that throws out half butted os with problems, that is supposed to work with their new machines. we the consumer pay $$$ to be the software testers. its just wrong, and its not just apple that does it. since I've come over to Mac OS, I've spent more time on the phone with support and in the stores with issues then I ever have. its leading me to believe that we are the after thought.

But the AMD Polaris graphics chip is relatively new and those display bugs are the main issue. The Samsung Polaris SSD controller is new too but easier to implement.

El Capitan doesn't have new AMD drivers and has older Metal frameworks. Yes it would be great if Apple supported new drivers and APIs for older operating systems, but sometimes it's also better to keep progressing.

Battery issues is simply due to people not understanding that marketing departments don't include usage from users who have notifications from 10 different social media accounts. I don't blame marketing for this - people use their gadgets in extreme ways that consumes too much power. You'll never make them happy.

I'd like to think they're cleaning up bugs and making the OS or efficient. But when all that's mentioned is the emoji's it almost feels like Apple is mocking people who actually want to use their macs for heavy processing tasks (you know ... 'pro' stuff).

Feeling just the same. Shamefull for Apple, frustrating for me when struggling with freezing browser and mail client and hot wheezing MacBook Pro.

But happily I will soon have few new funny emojis...

Wait, this must be wrong. This is only about Apple mocking us with emojis, not bringing out the most advanced, secure FS in the industry.

Most advanced? Maybe in regards to security but other features considered I would say moving closer to what competing filesystems had for quite some time...

How is this not a bigger freaking deal!?? This means Apple has removed a core, longstanding feature of MacOS/OSX in the name of silencing people who are claiming poor battery life with their new MacBook Pros...

This thread is about macOS, not iOS. Also, iOS does not show an estimate of battery time remaining, just the capacity percentage. That time estimate is what was removed from macOS.
