Apple, do you have anything new to offer for the working professional?

What exactly are you looking for?

An update to the Mac Pro more than every 4-6 years. An iMac with updated processors. A MacBook Pro that has 32 GB of RAM. A MacBook Pro that prioritizes battery life instead of making it thin at all costs. A MacBook Pro that doesn’t have graphics issues. Some kind of update to a MacMini would be nice for the average consumer. Better continuity when it comes to I/O versus dongles everywhere and dongles just to connect one Apple product to another. Better/deeper cloud services. Bug fixes for bugs that have been around for a few years now. A two-year update cycle for OS so we can have a super stable platform for more than 3 months after a .3 revision is released.

I could go on and on about what we need. But instead, Apple thinks it’s more important to focus on emojis and watch bands.

Look up some of the benchmarking being done. These arent much faster than the year-and-a-half old models and in some cases slower. Also theres users reporting pretty severe thermal throttling.

Glad you have these delusions and can appreciate your new laptop, but theres more than a few people (as you know) who can see past the 'form' and realize the function of these machines was not worth the year and a half wait.

It would be one thing if this was one of several of their computer models apple just updated, but this is the only so-called 'performance' machine theyve updated, and its not very impressive.

The rest of their computer lineup continues to rot away.

I don't think laptop development is all about the performance war anymore. More about integration and ecosystem features. The performance is already way higher them most people ever need, even 'professionals'. I also think major CPU makers like Intel and AMD are no longer pushing the performance improvements anymore leaving manufacturers like Apple to fill in the gaps with nonsense like emoji. It is a different world now then it was in the 80's and 90's when performance gains were the king. Graphics performance is continuing the trend still though showing the most significant gains in both performance and power. I'd say both are equally important.

The question I posed was with respect to the subject of this post, i.e. macOS.

Whenever I see: "But instead, Apple thinks it’s more important to focus on emojis and watch bands," or similar statements, it really does come off as a childish whine. Perhaps you do not understand that the department of graphic artists that designs emoji is not the same as the hardware group of engineers that designs computers. Ditto with watchbands. Or that Apple is depedent on CPUs manufactured by a company with their own timeline, and issues.

2012 was the last year for USB 3, Fire Wire 800, and Thunderbolt. I hate dongles and assume they cost transfer speed...

We are waiting on Intel for Kaby Lake that will help us create the best possible experience for the working professional who wants to convey their sentiments to the client in crisp yellowey retina goodness and for the first time in history we are creating tools for professionals that allow them to actually touch and experience that sentiment as they convey it.

Its sad so many believe that emojis are the only thing being updated. A lot of you really are embarrassing yourselves.

Apple doesn't offer any useful information what else has been done.

This! It shows what a minor role the entire Mac products are playing in the Apple business these days. If this business would be sane, Apple would care to update it's entire Mac line-up including professional Desktop computers that offer more flexibility like Workstations from Hewlett Packard (HP). Most Professionals already have jumped ship to Windows 10 if they are using software products that are cross-platform because you can't count on Apple if you do serious business with your computers.

Could all of you childish cry-babies just shut the f*** up for a moment? There are people interested in actual informations being exchanged, e.g. whether the most recent beta release had any noticable effects on battery life. It's so exhausting to filter all the "spam" going on in this thread, really time consuming. This is so embarrassing for "adult professionals" ... don't you have anything better to do with your time available? You're wasting mine, that's for certain...

means the apple cries, pouts and runs in a corner. apple machines cannot handle intensive cpu tasks. a medium to heavy work load causes the machine to burp and lock up or freak out . apple tech support verified this, as my mini nor my 2015 15inch MacBook Pro could handle any serious video or photo editing with out big burp... and crash. was told nothing too serious, as unless you go to the 3000+ dollar machines your sol!! windows never crashed... under load... regardless of build make and spec, and thats 20+ years of being as windows user.

Well, that sounds like an anecdotal experience that isn't applicable to every Mac. I can push the CPU on the Macs when running OS X/macOS and they don't crash.

On topic:

Perhaps the 10.12.2 update fixes the graphical issues on the new 2016 MacBook Pro's?

i did thinking it would, it didnt then had a support call with apple which they terminsted as soon as they saw i was on a beta and now wont get any support till i timebachine back to a release version of osx.

to be fair the things going back to apple and im getting a pc if this isnt sorted. tbmbp 15"
I wonder how many users of the new MacBooks are opting in to the public beta programme in an attempt to improve battery life from incremental beta updates.
[doublepost=1481023833][/doublepost]been an hour from full charge and im already on 50% this is ****

How about fixing the conflict with Adobe CC apps to keep my iMac from going to sleep and shutting down after an hour?

Apple have utterly lost the plot.

OS X used to be about productivity.

macOS is all about emoji gimmicks with productivity now considered an afterthought.

The MacBook/MacBook Pros are way too thin with no way near enough ventilation. Graphics issues anyone! Along with the absurd Touch Bar the modern MacBook Pro. is far from an attractive package.

Give me a 2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro any day over the latest offerings.

With the exception of the 27" 5K iMac modern day Macs are for kids and the remainder of the Apple ecosystem is moving in the same direction.

Are We? According to some, we should "just know" there's more going on than they tell us. But the Press Release doesn't make that clear, and has a strong emphasis on emojis. I'm about ready to make the switch, so maybe it's Apple that should be embarrassed?

typical reply, although apple tech support told me that directly. there are more of us with problems than you think. hopefully Mac OS updates can fix current issues. I see by your hopes that you wish for a fix. currently can't push the graphics card without an issue,. heres to hoping!!

sad to say thats an issue with adobe. apple directs you over to them. what apple should do is provide an optoin like windows, and give you the El Capitan and upgrade latter when current software providers update to newer os.

There was no press release. The article was written by MacRumors staff, and they focused on the emoji.

These are betas, there are no press releases. If someone follows the beta threads and discussions in them for different betas--rather than just headlines essentially--they can learn what was changed (assuming they get through skipping all the unnecessary emoji "outrage").

Apple:
- Assigns an artist to illustrate new emoji approved by the Unicode Consortium.
- Adds them to the system font a few months later when they're done.
- Includes it in the latest system update, along with bug fixes and enhancements.

MacRumors:
- Complete meltdown.

This is embarrassing, guys.
Agreed, but a lot of the blame has to go on MacRumors itself. If you look at the news item that starts this thread you'll see that about half the text rambles on about emoji. It's a generic load of waffle relating to 10.12.2 and has nothing of direct relevance to this beta. They do the same for the iOS beta threads. It seems they're totally unable to just stick to the topic of the beta and keep the item brief.

Couple that with people who post in the first thread they see which looks kind of relevant (witness all the individual beta threads full of people asking generic questions about Sierra) and one has to just accept the inevitable. We're all doomed. There's probably an emoji for that. Bring back Slow Leopard.

You are right IMHO. I know Apple since 2003 with the PowerMac G5 Dual 2 GHz and Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar. I liked Apple products until OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. After that everything went downward - probably because Apple doesn't focus on the classic Computer stuff that much anymore. Today even Windows 10 is delivering more performance than OS X El Capitan. Times are changing because Apple doesn't care that much to play catch up.
