I had a similar issue with BT in the car whereby wasnt hearing notifications and realized when connected to BT it would not play. Cant really remember but I thought that got corrected at some point. I will have to test that again in car. But def my headset does that now.
I'm not to iOS 10 yet, but in iOS 9 you have to open the Control Center, and in the lower right, in the AirPlay menu it should show the name of the Bluetooth device; tap that, and select the iPhone and Notifications/Alerts will play through the iPhone speakers again. But you have to do that… every… stupid… time…

Not seeing that option now. There are 2 to 3 control panels now. Music has its own. Maybe that one will work as there is an option to choose which device to use for music playback.

I was looking for some screen shots last night of the iOS 10 Control Center to validate if the layout was the same, and sure enough, as sbailey4 mentions, things changed quite a bit. I'm hoping someone might can test it out for us, since I don't have iOS 10 on hand to test right now. But it seems, if I'm thinking right, iOS 10 might have made the process EVEN MORE CUMBERSOME! Because whereas in iOS 9 the AirPlay menu was in the lower right of Control Center, the new AirPlay menu in the mid-left of the iOS 10 Control Center is for VIDEO only; in order to modify the AUDIO output device, you have to swipe to the left (to bring up the Music Controls pane from the right), and at the BOTTOM there is the AirPlay audio output device. So stupid. So SO stupid.

As soon as I test it, I'll file a bug report against it, AGAIN. Last time, I filed it as an Accessibility issue. I'm going to keep pounding on that, even though it affects some/most car system users just as annoyingly.

Care to elaborate?

What extra steps and poor user experience. Bugs, bugs bugs...well okay they've existed since ios 1. Slower performance since what? Seems the same on my 6s. As does the battery life. You think all apple has been doing since ios 7 has been new emojis?
Let me elaborate since you asked.

I used to be able to control the audio from control centre with one swipe, now in order to access it I need to swipe an extra time. Now if I need to access the other shortcuts from control centre I need to swipe back since it keeps the audio tile in memory when swiping up.

I'm not the kind of person who remembers what the date is and I often need to see the date while using an app, specifically when I take notes. I used to be able to do that by just swiping down but now that gesture is locked to displaying the notification centre so I need to additionally swipe left and then down again to see the date in Today view.

Turning off the alarm was one gesture (swipe right) , now it's basically 3, swipe down the notification tile, tap Close then tap Close again since it never closes on the first tap.

The new lock screen experience is debatable but I can certainly say that it added absolutely nothing to my experience, in fact all I can think is that I surely have to use to Home button a lot more.

The added 3D touch functionality is a welcome addition, I can't stress out enough how much I prefer interacting with notifications without having to open the app, only problem is that more often than not you will be asked to unlock your phone and be redirected to the app.

I can overlook all of the above, they are just minor nuisances compared to the 2 major bugs I've been facing.

1. The phone app will freeze, will crash, will drop calls at least once a day. I've checked with other users who face the same issue. Seriously now, we're talking about the phone app in iPhone. The one thing you are not allowed to mess up. Despite having reported the bug, despite having made sure that I'm not the only one who is getting ever since iOS 10, I see that Apple much rathers introducing the avocado emoji and the "cool" balloon effects in the message app rather than have the most important app fixed.

2. The audio gets disabled. This is another bug since iOS 10 that I've seen other users complaining about. The audio output goes completely mute at random times until I hard reset the device. Another perfect way of missing calls.

I could go on about my disappointment with Apple and how much they fail to deliver a "premium product" for years now but they sure as hell won't neglect to charge for premium.

P.S. Extra bug that doubles as a tip if you wanna drain your battery in a few minutes or if you wanna revenge someone you don't like. Add many alarms on the Clock app. Ask Siri to enable them all. Watch your battery draining in no time as Siri gets lost in an endless loop.

6s on ios 10.2 (beta).

  • Audio gets disables. Haven't had that happen.
  • Phone app freeze, crash. Yeah, on 10.1 there were random occurrences of it, gone with 10.2.
  • Using SIRI to enable the alarms. OK, but don't see the point. I can enable alarms faster logging in using raise to wake.
  • Interacting with notifications on a lock screen. I can see the rational that this was disabled.
  • Turning off the alarm. I don't know...on my phone the screen lights up and there is a "stop" button which gets pressed. Maybe this is 10.2.
  • Getting the date. I can see the rational for splitting the notifications and I like it. However, once the first tab is set, it stays set and is available until the 2nd tab is activated. So yeah, once you have to swipe twice.
  • Control center changes. Same as above you can set the control center to the 2nd tab and it will stay there.
You have a valid point with the phone "freezing", how apple let that through I don't know. However, 10.2 fixes it and then some. The SIRI alarm bug is a little like smashing your car into a wall to see if the bumpers are really safe to 2.5 miles/hour, and I don't know if its fixed or not as I don't set my alarms like that. Everything else is an opinion on some of the trade-offs apple made. As always YMMV.

And saying that apple introduces emojis rather than fixing bugs, is just so much internet hyperbole.:apple:

No more useless Live Photos. YES! and a puke emoji at last

I've had the opposite. On my 7 Plus with iOS 10.2, Live Photo keeps toggling itself on. I have to turn it off every time I pick up my phone and use the camera app. :( (it stays off for a minute or two if the phone is sleeping, and then toggles itself back on).

Anyone else experiencing this?

*edit*

Preserve Setting fixes this. Bit annoying it's not obvious that they changed this...
