You know what would be a REALLY nice update... If they built duplicate detection into iOS, iPad OS and MacOS. Now that would be a slick and industry leading solution. So much data out there using power and space to just have 5 copies of the same document or photo...

anything about the mail app?
I was hoping they harmonize the code base with iOS (like for messages) - that would kill the very buggy
Exchange sync code (EWS based).

Can't Wait!! going to run in VMware fusion

Apart from the updated Safari and the new notifications style, I don't see anything else new...

Please check the column view in Finder.

Has Apple finally fixed “Right Size All Columns Individually” option, so that columns automatically resize depending on the width of the folder/file name when browsing through various folders?

Right now all this right click feature does is adjusting the width of only one column ones and than that width remain the same for all other columns even if nested folder has very short file names in it.

Browsing files in column view in Finder has been a disaster for years now. ForkLift mostly does the job but at some things it is not good enough to be a full Finder replacement. It is simply time for Apple to fix this completely broken feature.

Have been reporting this throughout the whole beta test period of Mojave and I think once or twice during Catalina.

This issue has been since day one when I started using Macs in 2013 and basically covers:

OS X 10.9 - Mavericks
OS X 10.10 - Yosemite
OS X 10.11 - El Capitan
macOS 10.12 - Sierra
macOS 10.13 - High Sierra
macOS 10.14 - Mojave
macOS 10.15 - Catalina
macOS 11 - Big Sur

Sometimes I wonder if anyone at Apple actually does the job on their Macs, you know - like working with tons of files. 🤦‍♂️

Anyone else having issues installing macOS 12? I have now downloaded it like 3 times and each time it says there is a problem and starts to download again!

Reboot once after you install the beta utility maybe? I've installed in in VMware Fusion and it runs, but the Internet of the VM no longer works.

Well I have it installed on a 2018 13" MacBook Pro. This new tab thing in Safari is confusing as hell and Safari is most definitely not snappy at the moment.

You can make a bootable usb installer with this command after formatting a usb as MacOS Extended (Journaled) and naming it Untitled:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ 12\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

Now boot up from the usb and install.

One interesting change is that the process makes the disk bootable before copying to disk. It used to be the other way around.

Anyone having any luck with the universal control? I have wifi, bluetooth and handoff on as it says in the fine print and no luck.

I'm all up and running! Can't seem to get the universal thing working between my iPad and Mac mini tho

The new Safari feels really nice. Only time will tell if Low Power Mode will make a noticeable difference. Ad-block extensions needs to be updated for it to work again on Safari 15, at least AdBlock Pro does.

Would it be advisable to start using the 2FA codes built in Monterey, iOS and iPadOS 15? Since it's a new dev release, a system can go down and you could risk losing access to those 2FA codes (obviously, save backup codes elsewhere in case).

same here, have a 16 inch MBP and the new (2021) iPad Pro, no luck. It could be one of those features that is not available in beta 1, wouldn't be the first time....

I don't use Safari much so those changes aren't so important to me. I did have a play with the tab groups thing, but I don't like the way it shows the tabs and the way it tries to match the background colour to the current website. However, I think it's a neat idea.

I can't find the settings for the new Focus thing (with Do Not Disturb as a submenu) to enable it when watching videos on full screen. It's probably there somewhere. It seems we can set various profiles (for want of a better word) with Do Not Disturb being the default. This could be interesting; moreso on the phone.

I'll have to wait and see what this iMessage sharing with other apps is all about

Look & feel is identical to Big Sur. If this was released as Big Sur 11.6 it wouldn't have been a surprise. My iOS 15 beta is currently failing to install but I suspect that's going to be very similar.
