Agree Apple can do more to improve it. But I feel most of the benefit will come from third party Apps. At least for me it is almost all about the App Store.
It appears Apple's strategy has been to leave room for the development community to make money, keeping them engaged in support of Apple devices. Don't know this to be true, but Apple's apps often lack features that would seem obvious ... which are later offered by third parties.

Seriously. Can't believe what I am reading. In such short time, Apple is filling the gap with left out and new features so quickly that customers who own(like me) and those who don't but must have opinion should be impressed. I myself is very frustrated without BT or USB-C keyboard support. Same reason, years back I had and hated android tv's dinky keyboard and so sold to some sucker. Users/customers should complained and Apple needs to encourage those TV channel providers like NBCuniversal,, App developers and idiot like Amazon's Jeff Bozo, Comcast Xfinity, Timewarner watch anywhere, dishnetowork App to support new Apple TV. This new Apple-TV is good platform for users and developers.

Sure, it's nice to see Apple responding. Or maybe these features should have been there in the first place? These features are not in any way mind blowing, but rather pretty basic.

i just wish Apple would allows devs access to the storage! i can stream in HD from Netflix et all just fine, but somehow from my home network, if sharing anything, it has to buffer every few minutes...

I'd check your network or ATV settings. I have a Plex server set up with over 300 movies and television shows. We watch them all the time, and never have any buffering issues.

in my experience, it was difficult, typing up long email addresses and passwords... certainly enough to be called frustrating

I have an email address with over 20 characters in it. Again, it took about 5 minutes to set up Netflix, HBO Now, iTunes, Hulu and PBS.

Wonder if Siri will eventually be allowed to search through personal Movie and TV show collections in iTunes, or other media center apps like it can with music.

The official word from Apple was that they were going to open up the Siri search API to developers. Not sure when that will happen. I would imaging that Plex will start working on it as soon as they have access.

Regarding the Bluetooth Keyboard. I like they are improving these things but I never used them on the ATV 3. I would prefer they add SIRI Voice to Text Support. Also, about the email address, there is a "recent" option where you can pull in your prior email address and only type the same one once. You can also have multiple. I even notice if you have an error that text can be brought in. Not sure all that it will support. But not for for password. I think they should allow you to save credentials for anything and then just select that userid/password setting when needed.

Of course the really big problem is the credentials for your cable company so you only have to enter that once. This is the really big problem. But I suspect they will need to work with the cable companies on this one since 1/2 the work is outside of the Apple TV.

tvOS betas are more difficult to install than beta updates for iOS and OS X. Installing the tvOS beta requires the Apple TV to be connected to a computer with a USB-C to USB-A cable, with the software downloaded and installed via iTunes.

Odd, especially given the lack of native USB-C in most current models.

Improvements are always welcome, but I'm finding a ton of value in the ATV4. I have had every generation ATV since the first big white one. This one is already amazing, and it gets better with every update.

As more developers create apps it will get even better. Kick it in gear, Amazon.

I too have the original Apple Tv, great device, still working.

Should have waited for what? Don't need new hardware to get OS improvements.

Guess you're right, it was a good deal, just have to wait for the OS to improve.

Is it me or did Apple slightly round the corners of app icons?

And also, Podcasts are back finally!

I do love the new Apple TV and tvOS. It's the absolute best player for Plex, period. The UX of Plex on the new Apple TV is downright _fantastic_ and looks beautiful.

I do hope Apple would consider to add a "Night Shift" like the one from the latest iOS 9.3 BETA into tvOS as well. I've got a lot of family members and a girlfriend that often end up with waking up and watch some television when they can't fall a sleep and we would love to eliminate the amount of blue light emitting from the television as well as having the amount lower during the evening hours making so we would get sleepy earlier.

The one thing that is missing in-terms of Plex is support for bitstreaming Dolby True HD and DTS:HD Master Audio.

yeah, its my home's network speeds, they're pretty much basic speeds. I also have a Plex server that i occasionally stream to my phone on its data plan (Sprint, which has pretty slow speeds, but on the bright side of it, its unlimited) and streams like a charm. Its a question of paying more to the phone company

YES! So excited about Kodi. I will be able to re-purpose my raspberry pi running Kodi now. No more input switching, everything in one place.

I haven't installed Kodi so I only have a vague idea of what you can do with it. What does bluetooth keyboard support allow you to do that you can't currently?

Does your television not allow you to adjust the picture settings? I've never seen one that doesn't.

If I access the Plex server at my house from my girlfriend's ATV, or vice-versa I have to knock the streaming rate way down. Something like 320kbps. So that sucks.

That was one thing I thought of when the new TV launched. iOS seemed to round corners even more with iOS 9. TV icons looked out of place.

I bought the ATV4 for my elderly mother but I overestimated how much you can use Siri to do things on the device. The two big negatives that jumped out immediately were 1) The touchpad for basic GUI navigation and 2) Trying to select characters (worse than ATV2). Bluetooth keyboard integration solves number 2. I don't know how to solve the touchpad problem except to have an older "silver" remote around with the click keys for faster navigation. I suspect the touchpad is not a problem for younger people/gamers who are already used to this sort of thing, but for older people trying to make subtle gestures on a 1" x 1" area on a piece of plastic, it can be challenging. BTW, she has the iPad1 and loves it. A touchscreen on that size device is fine. Unfortunately, the ATV remote App does not run on older iPads so that is out for her too.

Based on my experience with ATV4, I see no reason at this time to upgrade from ATV2. The only real advantage is Siri but even that is not compelling enough. I am hoping the overall user experience matures to the point where it IS compelling to upgrade.

You don't need an old Apple TV remote. Just take any multi-function remote she has and program the Apple TV to accept it.

Thank you!!! I'll look into this and see if I can find a UTube video or something that explains how to do this.

Update: Found the answer on the Apple Support page. Thank you again!!! :) Now I AM considering updating to ATV4 for myself too.
