When I got Kodi installed, setup and running to play all my ripped DVDs and BluRays, I packed up and stored my Mac-Mini which was previously doing the streaming duties. I was very happy, plus I now have the Apple TV mounted behind the TV out of sight which is really great. One of the things that I think is really neat is the ability to put the Apple TV to sleep and it turns off the TV at the same time, wake the Apple TV and it turns on the TV. It does take some work to customize Kodi but I think it is well worth the effort. I have read that there is a good possibility that Kodi will be getting HD audio pass thru in future updates for the Apple TV. At least that is what one of the developers of MrMC hinted at.

Amazon stream? Did you install the Amazon add-on on Kodi?

Are you running the TVOs 9.3 beta with Kodi?

The amazon streaming is possible for me but it's a hokey setup. I have a UPNP server that can let me watch amazon streaming through kodi, It's called PlayOn. I rarely use it in that way but from what I hear, the official amazon app is due out very soon anyways. No I'm just on on 9.2 and yesterday's nightly build of kodi.

I almost returned the sodding thing because of the touch pad input entry.

Give me physical buttons Apple!!! Thank goodness I have a Logitech Harmony as i was able to sync the remote and control it this way. I was then shocked it had no bluetooth keyboard entry as my old ATV3 had.

I'm glad Apple saw sense on that.

I'm also very glad they've added folders. My homescreen is currently a total mess!
Yeah I think what amplified the frustration was me going for the Remote app (didn't work) then me going for a bluetooth keyboard (didn't work either). Finally accepted my fate and used the crappy input.

please make the remote touchpad LESS sensitive. I have it turned down as much as I can in the settings but the better half and I have gotten into many fights about ATV4. "Can we please go back to the old Apple TV?" I'm about to give in an sell the 4's and go back to 3's. I have no trouble with the remote but it is really impacting my home life.

I believe you can add your old apple TV's remote to this new one. It can learn remotes, so if it doesn't support just pairing the old ATV3 remote you can teach it keys.

Are people really this oblivious? since Apple tv 2 you can pair tons of other remotes plus even if you just bought the Apple tv yesterday a simple browse through the settings it would become obvious you can use other remotes. Maybe i expect too much from people, i mean years after all you had to do if you wanted to hide Apps from the home screen was go into the settings and in home screen setting you could easily hide apps but yet day after day people still asked how to hide apps

Not like there is much alternative to the awful Siri Remote. iOS Remote App is very primitive.

You can use the ATV2/3 aluminium remote, harmony remote, and goodness knows how many more. You have plenty of options....

I just wish I could use Siri in english in Germany. :(

????

Just change the OS language (and perhaps the region you're in)

That does not work. If you are in Germany, you'll likely have a German iTunes account. Thus, you can only use Siri in English in Germany if you have a US/UK/and so on iTunes account and of course set the system language to English and region to US. I tried it myself, it didn't work if I just set it to English and US. I also have a US account, though I refrain from using it because I use Apple Music a lot on my Apple TV 4, so when I use the German account and press the Siri remote, I just get the text entry field. Since I want to use Apple Music AND Siri AND I am too lazy to buy US iTunes cards from eBay every few months and instead get the subscription billed to my credit card, I'll have to stick with German as my OS language ...

It depends. Sounds like (I could be wrong), you are a UK/US expat? I'm in the same boat as you but in Spain. I just have a UK iTunes account linked to my parents address and voila. Obviously you'll have to have a bank account linked to that address but if you're an expat, that's not exactly hard to do.....anyway. Result for an English content and a UK iTunes store.
