Does your television not allow you to adjust the picture settings? I've never seen one that doesn't.
Apple today provided developers with the first beta of an upcoming update to tvOS, the operating system that runs on the fourth-generation Apple TV and powers its built-in App Store. Today's tvOS beta comes just over one month after the release of tvOS 9.1, the first update to tvOS since it was released in October alongside the new Apple TV.
tvOS betas are more difficult to install than beta updates for iOS and OS X. Installing the tvOS beta requires the Apple TV to be connected to a computer with a USB-C to USB-A cable, with the software downloaded and installed via iTunes.

We don't know what's included in the new version of tvOS, but it's likely to bring expanded features, bug fixes, and performance improvements to Apple's youngest operating system.
The first tvOS update, tvOS 9.1, introduced Siri support for Apple Music, allowing the personal assistant to play content from Apple Music when requested. Siri for Apple Music on the Apple TV works similarly to Siri for Apple Music on iOS devices, enabling queries like "What was the top song in 1980?" or "Play Adele's latest single." It also brought support for the iOS and Apple Watch Remote app, which is now compatible with the new Apple TV.
What's new in tvOS 9.2:
Bluetooth keyboard support - tvOS 9.2 now supports Bluetooth keyboards, allowing a keyboard to be paired to the Apple TV for text entry. This is a major feature that was missing from previous versions of tvOS and its addition should make it much easier to do things like enter passwords.
Folders - tvOS 9.2 includes support for grouping apps in the Home screen into Folders, much like one can do on an iOS device. Folders are a bit buggy on the Home screen, but this will improve in subsequent betas.

MapKit - tvOS 9.2 supports MapKit, allowing developers to implement maps into their tvOS apps.
Siri - Siri now includes support for US Spanish (in the US only) and French Canadian (in Canada only). UK English, Australian English, and US English are now available in the UK, Australian, and US Storefronts when English is set as the tvOS language.
App Switcher - There's a new look for the App Switcher interface in tvOS.

Podcasts - The Podcasts app is now available on the fourth-generation Apple TV.

Exactly, apps like Infuse justify the purchase of an Apple TV 4, IMO.Agree Apple can do more to improve it. But I feel most of the benefit will come from third party Apps. At least for me it is almost all about the App Store.
What is involved in getting it installed before it's on the app store?
I suppose I need to get my hands on a USB Type-C kabel then.

Doing that manually each and every evening is tedious.
Yeah, it was.

It has a lot of drawbacks but it's highly customization (though not always easily). It is however a very solid platform for playing back just about any video. You can significantly simplify the interface but it takes some digging through settings. It's still the best solution I've seen to watch you personal video collection while easily being controlled by a remote. Supports about any type of file share. If you really want to get a better idea of it, install the OSX version on a computer. Kind of rough judging it based on something that hasn't been released as a final stable product.
Sorry but could you explain to me what you do with Kodi?
I've side loaded it on my ATV4 and it's the biggest piece of garbage app I've ever used.
The interface is slow and looks awful. I've upgraded the skin to the Eminence skin which is better, but still a garbage interface.
Next, add-ons. I've checked all the popular repo's and installed the big add-ons like Genesis, Phoenix, etc. but they're all VERY slow and most of the time the streams don't even load.
Basically, I can download something, drop in my shared folder, and play in with infuse, which looks great and grabs all the metadata for the movie/tv show.
Sorry to sound like a jerk, but could you explain how Kodi is good?
Nope first time hearing about it, I'll have to check it out. Some TVs allow you to define a preset... you could just change the color temp and save that. On my Vizio you can flip between these presets with a single button.

Have you checked out Infuse? I'd say the exact same thing you just said, but about Infuse.
There is no indication that Kodi will be coming to the App Store anytime soon. If you want Kodi for the Apple TV in the App Store then look at the app called MrMC which is based off the Kodi code base. Kodi can play more formats then MrMC and Kodi supports Add-Ons and more skins.
There are instructions on how to install Kodi on the Apple TV 4 along with a video showing the steps. It requires you to get a free developers account and you need to download and install XCode on a Mac running 10.10.5 or later.

It doesn't seem tough just a bit time consuming to get everything together, I only install xcode when i need it and looks like I might need it again. Thanks for taking the time.

Maybe not a big problem with alphabets, but it's impossible to input Japanese from the remote (at least in the previous gen) and the iOS app was essential especially with having thousand of characters.Hyperbole much? Can really get why this was such a "horrible" experience for people.
I set up two of them, and it really wasn't bad at all. 5 minutes and done. And months of pleasurable usage since.
Just finished installing and setting stuff up. Took me kind of long because I kept messing up small details but I finally got it. So far very happy right now. Netflix, amazon streaming, games, airplay and my home video collection all on one box. Kodi is running better than I expected for the nightly builds. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! There is a wealth of information and help on the kodi.tv forums.
Care to elaborate?

Setting this thing up before the remote app was supported and bluetooth keyboard was pretty frustrating.
Odd, especially given the lack of native USB-C in most current models.
