I'm actually a little surprised they released it this week. For those who jumped on (or stayed on) the beta train for this one, with holidays coming up...beta is a brave move!

I was kind of thinking they might wait to put a beta out until after New Year's. Hopefully there aren't too many issues in it, since it may be a while before beta 2 comes out!

I highly doubt Apple will fix this absolutely frustrating issue any time soon. In fact, I highly doubt they even know how to fix it considering how long it's been going on for. Mail. Reminders. Calendar. All these notifications are broken.
I'm going to say it is fixed... I'm now 20 emails in without so much as a stutter. Tried half on iPad Pro and the rest on iPhone 11 Pro

I assume 13.4 is where we will see the iCloud Drive stuff?

Frozen mail fix when opening from a notification?
Yes

Consider this an early Christmas gift... Mail is working fine for me 👍👍👍

It's not just when opening from a notification. This has been the case when opening Mail from home screen since 13.0, as well.

I'm also curious if 13.3.1 finally fixes this.

The issue I have is a message comes in and I’m notified. When I open the mail it’s not downloaded and I have to refresh to get it to show. I assume this is what you’re talking about?

what’s strange is that I seem to have this sporadically as well using the Gmail app.

I want to believe...

Good news, but my trust in apple software, beta or full release has been blown to smithereens with this release cycle of OSes since Sept. It's not even been bad, because previous releases we've had a bad start with got polished shortly there after. This one just continues to go and go and go being bad.

Needless to say iOS 14 will have very low expectations indeed!

Also a dumb question: if betas for previous IOS versions are still seeded by Apple, can I downgrade my iPhone X by using a beta for 12.4.X?
Nope. The versions of iOS 12 released after the release date of iOS 13 are never compiled for iOS 13 compatible devices. So there is no 12.4.2 through 12.4.4 available at all for newer devices newer than the iPhone 6.

At this point I’m hoping iOS 14 will finally fix everything.

But even then what’s the point, because iOS 15 will just break it. This is why I don’t get the yearly new OS cycles. iOS 12 was basically to fix iOS 11, but was replaced after a year with the re-broken iOS 13.

I’d be happy with iOS 12 having been the foundation for the next few OSs.

iOS 13 is just a complete disaster. I had to resort to a 3rd party mail app (Outlook) because native Mail just doesn't work.
Of course neither does Outlook. How MS can get away with both not supporting CardDAV, and not supporting contacts databases synced to the phone other than iCloud in 2019, is beyond understanding.
