I'm gonna wait until late next month before I install on my iPad (which is my secondary device; I never install betas on my iPhone). My experience with early betas is that they are way too unstable to consider using.

How are bank apps? I heard they were not working in beta 1 due to thinking they were being jailbroken. I use BofA, Capital One, PNC, and Barclay's (US), Paypal, and financial app Vanguard. Man I'm SOOOOO tempted.

Interesting ... I just signed up (7/10), and it indicated it was "Public Beta 2". Will add build info when it's done!!

This is the first official public beta, it's labeled as 2 likely to stay in sync with the developer beta given that this public beta is the same one as developer beta 2.

Updated this morning before work. Looks like the app icons have gotten ever so slightly smaller.

Picture-in-Picture works on the iPhone SE which is a bit of a shocker as I totally expected a "This feature only works on newer devices" asterisk for that feature.

Should be interesting to see how much it affects my battery life. I was already getting only two to three hours on iOS 13 as it is.

Does the Wells Fargo banking app work on the PB?

Best place to look, as it's usually kept up to date as the betas roll out.

Thanks. I checked there first. It isn’t mentioned.

I have installed prior iOS public betas but only after public betas had been issued for 1-2 months. I installed this one this morning based on all the feedback here that it was quite stable. I am pleasantly surprised. I am only finding minor annoyances and have already submitted those to Apple.

The widgets are nice. I particularly like the reminders app widget right on my Home Screen so I can see the stuff I need to do as I mindlessly look at phone. Calendar as well. Think there will be support for third party app widgets on the Home Screen? Maybe we’re waiting for devs to take advantage of it.

I put this on my daily driver, an XR, and I must admit I am impressed. Every app I've tried so far that I actually use oil a daily basis seems to be just fine. Other early iOS betas I tried were nowhere near this stable!! I do expect issues from time to time, but ... so far, so good!!

FWIW - Navy FCU app works perfectly!!

At the end of a busy day using my iPhone 8 Plus 256 with driving apps and Apple map and messages iOS 14 PB2 held up just as good as iOS 13.

a few times messages received texts and it switched to that filter. Took me a few seconds to find the missing messages.

some of my internet always on driving apps seem to be slowing down by the end of the day like the bandwidth was low and had to wait for updates screens. I did try toggling airplane mode thinking I was connected to a stinger or bad tower but that didn't help. I didn't get a chance to reboot my device while in the middle of my workflow so I didn't determine if there was some type of memory leak.

battery life seemed the same or better, I have optimized charging normally on and it usually hovers about 80%. Today it hovered at 93%.

also noticed less screen dimming while giving the iPhone its workout.

Tried to download some offline language translations but only was able to get one to download.

Two questions please.

How do you report issues to Apple?

Are we able to add widgets to the original widget screen (left of the first home screen)?

Feedback app (installed with the beta).
Yes.

Thanks Adrian. Feedback app found. It was installed on my very last screen.

And how do I add widgets on the original widgets screen? Previously there was an edit button. That's no longer there.

Long press somewhere near the top (i.e. above all the legacy widgets) and eventually they'll jiggle and the old edit button will appear. Note the edit button is only for legacy widgets; new style ones are added the same way as on a homescreen.

Brilliant. Thanks again. Here's to hoping Apple News widget soon goes back to showing several news stories.

Me too! This is the only issue I have with this for now. I like seeing 4 top stories, not just one.

And also the ability to organize widgets in any order, not just Apple Widgets on top.

I've found a way to show 3 stories. You select the largest widget. But you still can't put the widget within the non apple widgets. It must go at the top.

Recording Indicator - I noticed the small orange light earlier today and had no idea what it was. After some research of iOS 14, I've released what it is and how to find out what app was using it. However, I went to check on notification centre and it doesn't state what app it was (and I can't remember myself what app I was using). Is there any other way to find out what apps were using camera or microphone?

Also, 'Network Access'. Is this simply for wifi connections? Or is it for connecting to my other Apple devices too? I got the "Twitter would like to find and connect to devices on your local network". I blindly just allowed it on my iPhone and am now wondering if my Twitter details will now show on my iPad too? How does this option work?

Does that work for Top Stories? All I get is one Top Story and one suggestion for Apple News Plus
