That is really weird. The last time Apple was advancing versions that quickly was from iTunes 4 to 5 I think, where they released version 4, the DRM was hacked, and they released version 5 like a week later.

Apple Seeds First Developer Build of Mac OS X 10.6.6

In a rather unusual move, Apple today seeded the first developer version of Mac OS X 10.6.6, known as Build 10J521, even before the company has publicly released Mac OS X 10.6.5.

As 9 to 5 Mac notes, there are no documented known issues in the build and the seed notes mention a focus on support for the forthcoming Mac App Store.
- Contains developer support for fetching and renewing App Store receipts. See "Validating App Store Receipts" for more details.
Interestingly, the Mac OS X 10.6.6 update is only 3.7 MB in size, suggesting only very minor tweaks at this point.

The unusual early seeding of Mac OS X 10.6.6 relative to its predecessor and the apparent requirement of Mac OS X 10.6.6 for certain Mac App Store functions suggest that Apple is likely fast-tracking the operating system update for release in the not-so-distant future.

Apple announced during its October 20th media event that the Mac App Store would launch on Mac OS X Snow Leopard within 90 days, and just yesterday the company began accepting submissions from developers for inclusion in the Mac App Store.

So much closer to 10.7 and The Mac App store it's an exciting time for Mac users :)

To me this pretty much confirms 10.6.5 next Tuesday, which also means iOS 4.2 with iTunes 10.1 will be next Tuesday (AirPrint support) and the AppleTV update (AirPlay support) as well.

I think they will do all of them at once since they tie together in terms of support/requirements.

I think it will come tomorrow as well. I don't usually speculate, but I'd think that Apple would want to get the day light savings bug fixed before it affects the US this weekend.

That said, I'm probably wrong.

It is weird, but come to think of it, they are working on 10.7 while they do these updates aswell. So not that odd, plus, they know that they have to support the Mac App Store, so... kind of makes sense

Thus endeth the unreasonable speculation that 10.6.5 will be the last Snow Leopard update.

Some people actually believed that it was? Newer Mac users I'm assuming, because anyone who's been around the Mac scene for longer than one OS point release would know better.

I just really hope my hackintoshes will be able to update through 10.6.6 without to many headaches

So 10.6.5 and ios will release next week? Is this weekend a possibility still?

I am confused why would 4.2 require 10.6.5 because 4.2 will work with all versions of windows correct?
