Interesting move.

Not really...we knew 10.5.5 was done earlier this week, they are just waiting on 4.2's release. And with the App Store coming within the next 70 days or so, another update for the store is expected.

Right, it is understandable after thinking it through, but still surprising when you see it pop on macrumors

I think it will come tomorrow as well. I don't usually speculate, but I'd think that Apple would want to get the day light savings bug fixed before it affects the US this weekend.

That said, I'm probably wrong.

Well, Apple didn't bother to fix it before it affected Australia or Europe...

(I'm deliberately not including NZ in that list since it wasn't a known issue when it hit us).

Just do it

Come on just put out and have app store as a Standalone download.
Just have 10.6.6 for Light Peak.

To me this pretty much confirms 10.6.5 next Tuesday, which also means iOS 4.2 with iTunes 10.1 will be next Tuesday (AirPrint support) and the AppleTV update (AirPlay support) as well.

I think they will do all of them at once since they tie together in terms of support/requirements.

I think 'Update Tuesday' has gone down the pan at the moment - expect 10.6.5 for this week.

Yeah but I still say Tuesday because it's more exciting when it arrives earlier.

I don't think it will come today or this weekend though.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

It's rather exciting times for us Apple customers having all these more or less imminent updates coming our way at once.

OS/X 10.6.5
iTunes 10.1
iOS 4.2
And now 10.6.6 is in the pipeline.
Then there is presumably OS/X 10.7, Lion next summer.

The trackpad gets stuck in "drag mode" so everything gets selected as you move the cursor. Sometimes even a restart hasn't fixed it for me.

This is a normal behaviour. You should try to understand the available trackpad gestures, so that you can avoid the unwanted behaviour. Btw, it has nothing to do with Apple or their trackpads, it can also happen with third party devices like a mobile Microsoft mouse.

i am totally agree with that statement that is really weird. The last time Apple was advancing versions that quickly was from iTunes 4 to 5 I think, where they released version 4, the DRM was hacked, and they released version 5 like a week later.

Some people actually believed that it was? Newer Mac users I'm assuming, because anyone who's been around the Mac scene for longer than one OS point release would know better.

It was one of the macrumors homepage people. Doubt it was arn, but ya never know. I'm too lazy to find it.

iOS 4.2
iTunes 10.1
10.6.5

Today.

With hopes that they also update the iWork iPad apps to enable AirPrint.

This is what I am hoping for as I am about to go on travel and would love to be able to upgrade my iPad before I leave. In fact, there have been many OS point releases on Fridays. So, it does seem to be in alignment with historical practices.

Oh good! Maybe just maybe they'll bother to fix the massive memory leak in Safari and it's useless brocken flash compatibility it has. I can use it again then instead of Firefox, which works fine! For a company that supposedly prides itself on software as much as hardware, it is seriosly lacking in it's quality control of BOTH lately. Not very good is it Apple?
Do we have another Toyota on our hands? Expanding too fast to make products correctly?
