These are updated builds
iOS 16 beta 3 Update (20A5312j) - July 11, 2022
iPadOS 16 beta 3 Update (20A5312j) - July 11, 2022
The build numbers are the same as developer beta 3 (20A5312g) where:
  • 20 indicates the major version (iOS 16, as you need to add 4 to the version)
  • A indicates the minor version (as in iOS 16.0)
  • 5312 is the incremental build number for 16.0
The last letter j is interesting, which roughly corresponds to the number of major bugs. a means it's ready for release. Since this letter has been downgraded from g to j, expect a bumpy beta. Many are reporting battery drain from the phone getting hot. And many of Apple's own apps are not very stable, especially the Music app.

After clicking "Sign in", choose the OS (iOS or iPadOS or macOS etc), then click on "enroll your ... device", then on "Download profile".
Ahh! I forgot to go into settings/profiles/install.

now, do I feel brave enough to live without some apps for a while????

Well now comes all the comments about iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. :D
You need to acquire the new beta profile to install on iPhone, or iPad.

Dev beta profile already on beta 3 says there's an update to dev beta 3 o_O

I ran 16 Dev Beta 1 on my daily driver, it was far smoother than even the late iOS15 public betas to me. (Multiple quirks with setting lock screens in 1/2, though...)

Def still keep a backup handy but from what I can tell this cycle seems like a win for stability unless they screw it up at the last hurdle. Still too nervous to gamble with installing a WatchOS beta though, despite how much I want to.

Edit: By the way, if you install iOS16's betas but not WatchOS9 Beta, you lose access to the home app on the watch, I guess the new system is incompatible. This has annoyed me quite a few times.

Imagine paying a premium for an iPhone with stable software to beta test buggy software for free...

I am staying off the iOS 16.0 public beta for a lot of reasons. I'll wait until the first bug fix version of iOS 16 "final" arrives around early October 2022. :)

Seems fine to me. Besides the lock screen, which is fine I guess, not many changes that hit you right away. New Home app looks nice, but the Automations tab is still a enormous mess. I'd like to be able to group automations together so it's not a huge unruly list.

All my work and banking apps work just fine.

I am downloading the iOS 16 Public Beta to my main device (iPhone 12 mini) now and will see what happens…

Home app looks really good but is still lacking…you have to scroll right and cannot customise how you see the list

Am also getting location arrow for Facebook when I have turned it off
