I am downloading the iOS 16 Public Beta to my main device (iPhone 12 mini) now and will see what happens…
I installed iOS 16 public beta and it turned my iPhone into a newt.

Stage Manager on my 12.9" seems cool and comes appreciated but frankly feels like a tech demo rather than a real product. A lot of things are akward and behavior really needs a trackpad to function properly rather than just touching fingers on screen.
Also people shouldn't be sad it doesn't run on their non-12.9" M1 devices. Honestly. An 11" iPad is too small for the interface, a 10.9" Air or even a Mini more so.
Even for my 12.9" I had to increase the resolution to 'scaled' (more resolution) so that webpages would still fit.

A tech demo really.

I want to be on it but this is also my work phone too … yeah, probably shouldn’t.

it's tempting, but really a bad idea for daily driver phones, regardless of positive anecdotal experience.

it's fun until something you usually use doesnt function properly because it's not updated to work yet. or you're in the middle of something mission critical and the device stops functioning how you expect it to.

Imagine paying a premium for an Android phone, only to find out you really want to go back to iOS? Even if it's Beta, still is more stable than Android.
Really? Which version of Android OS are you running that is buggy? I have ran Android 10, 11, and 12 and all have been rock solid and stable. iOS 15 on the other hand is more of a joke with so many updates and bug ridden issues just in time for iOS 16 to start the cycle all over again.

I installed iOS 16 public beta and it turned my iPhone into a newt.
Same! I’ll get back to iOS 15.5! Damn, my phone is very hot, I can’t even manage to keep it. To those who want to try iOS 16 by downloading its Dev Beta or Public Beta to their main device, I don’t recommend you to do that. Never!

I'm usually less hesitant to install beta on my phone as opposed to work computer in which case I have a rule to install x.3 update only. The only worry really are the bank apps on my phone but so far so good with public betas.

Imagine paying a premium for an iPhone with stable software to beta test buggy software for free...

You're thinking of Windows. Microsoft literally fired all their testers and makes users test it. And not just Insiders either.

YUUUUGE issue in the Music app: I lost the order of the songs in my biggest (130+ songs) playlists!!!
In iTunes they’re fine (alphabetical order by artist, and within each artist the albums are in chronological order), but on my iPhone sometimes the songs are in alphabetical order or they’re in chronological order but the albums are in alphabetical order (like in the pic below). That’s a big mess, and the only solution is to manually reorder the songs in the Music app.

Same playlist on iTunes and on iOS 16.
Well, at least I have something to do this afternoon… Rearrange around 600 songs 😖😖😖

well, I have the profile, the software download starts, and then it crashes after it 'finishes'. Does anyone have this problem?

I installed the update yesterday. So far it seems solid. I like the new Lock Screen and the way it displays notifications.
Well, yes - except of the timer display… that’s objectively ugly. Hopefully just a temporary glitch.

I'm telling everyone I installed iOS 16 because I just KNOW y'all will want to know. :D

On a serious note...I'm pretty shocked at how stable it is. Thus far battery life is *better* than it was/is with iOS 15. Have made calls all morning long (since 6 a.m.), streamed music to Sonos, browsed the web, etc. blah blah, and I'm at 67%. Phone has stayed stone cold the whole time. I've yet to encounter any issue at all that would require me to submit a bug report.

Very stable and all banking etc apps work. Only visual issue I noticed is that the dots at bottom of screen to show which page you are on sometimes are off centre.

Also one other thing if someone could check for me. Previously in settings for maps you could choose km or miles. I noticed my maps had reverted to miles. Went back into maps settings and now there’s no option to set km ir miles. Hopefully an oversight. Does anyone else have this issue ?

Anyone managed to get the fitness rings to move with just an iPhone? I’ve done a full day with iOS 16 and it says 45 steps… but health app is 12,000+

this is SO disappointing!

* Still can't use aliases created on macOS from within the Files app on iPadOS. They just show up as useless files named "alias" but no contents!!
* Still can't add files from the files app to the Music app
* Still can't view playlists in music app as "album view" just like on macOS. Even when they are created as "album view" on macOS they just translate to a long list of songs in iOS and iPadOS

how long is this going to take to make the ipad into something more than just a netflix viewer and web browser?!? We have a f***ing USD400 keyboard now and still can not do some basic computing on this device. I don't get it !
