Just having the Facebook app that can NOT be deleted is a major issue in security for me. That is a non-operating system component. I can delete other non-operating system programs if desired.

So what is so special about the Facebook app that it has to remain installed? The logical option that comes to mind based upon that companiy's sordid history is continuous monitoring of something on my computer.

Yeah, the FaceTime app is part of the OS and isn't removable. However, you can not use it (and either don't log in, or log out).

In what way do you believe it's spying? Via the camera? I trust the green dot on my laptop but I know people who put some black electrical tape over their camera.

I’ve noticed an annoying crackle in the audio now, happening regardless of the app.

Have a dot over the camera to be sure nothing/nobody can see me and or my spaces. But there is no way to disable the microphones that can monitor conversations with no indication that is happening.....

I have no idea why people actually think this is a really common thing. Unless an actual Nation State is targeting you this isn't a thing you realistically need to even think about.

Wow, I switched back to Monterey from the beta (because of the post apple screen boot time as mentioned a few post earlier) and boy this thing is so stable and fast now. I think that Monterey has been remarkably tuned for apple silicon, and I can already feel the system being so much more responsive over the betas (I know, they are betas! 😊)

I have always been a sucker for the early betas, and Ventura to me, I thought had the least niggles post boot in a long time, but after coming back to Monterey, the system does feel extremely polished and fluid so I guess I'm not heading back to the betas until the RC for now.

I ended up rolling back yesterday too. Ventura was actually 98% a daily driver for me. Everything was just about the same as it was in 12. Have to wait for the usual Audio Hijack and Crossover update which was expected. What killed it though was a weird issue with some audio plugins. Minimal Audio's plugins for some reason weren't able to read/write to the /Library/App Support/Minimal directories, which is where they store their licenses and presets. They wanted to keep reactivating/login every time you open them, and they wouldn't read the directories and actually use the activation (that was already there from Monterey) or show the presets in the menus. Minimal couldn't figure out either as they don't have access to the beta but they're working fine in Monterey. Their new MorphEQ plugin was too good to resist so I had to roll back to use my new impulse buy.

Have you consider going the DFU restore route with a ASR backup volume on a external SSD that can use with Migration Assistant to completely return the MacOS environment to factory default?

I have beta 4 running on both a M1 24" iMac and a M1 Max 16: MBP.
Tried this. As soon as I connect my iPhone into the mix (same Wi-Fi and same iCloud account) it starts doing the same BS all over again. Thinking it’s a glitch between iOS 16 beta and Ventura causing Ventura everytime on reboot to think the iPhone is trying to hand off FaceTime.

Rolled back to Monterey after reporting everything to the feedback assistant. iOS 16 has been flawless so far. Ventura PB2 has been a train wreck regarding the handoff/syncing between devices, and the FT issue was icing on the cake.
