I just tried to install Big Sur beta on my MBP and it's incorrectly claiming I don't have enough space. Disk Uitility shows over 50GB free, while the installer claims I have less than 30GB free, which should still be enough, yet it's insisting I need 17.12 GB free. It's got to be a glitch as I just deleted 8 GB worth of apps and it went from wanting an additional 17GB to 17.12GB. How?!

EDIT: Never mind. Apparently, Catalina split up my Mac HD into two partitions and didn't tell me. I had to remove old Time Machine snapshots to get enough space to install. Go figure. Apple, whatever happened to making things easier?! Oh well enjoying Big Sur so far. Dark mode finally enables like it should. Catalina it was inconsistent or broken.

I'm in Public Beta (whatever it is now, I installed it last night--just named 'Big Sur Beta' in Software Update) and battery is roughly the same. I had a McAfee bug that made the CPU go crazy and fans ramp up but I disabled some of it and it settled down.

Battery life seems the same to me on my early 2015 rMBP.

Why did they move the '+' to add a tab to the top? EVERY browser has it on the SAME line as the tabs. Make no sense.

Only one crash so far. It logged me off but didn't require a restart. Safari related.

I always hide the 'tab bar' in Firefox and I love the new Safari UI myself. It makes it less 'bezel' up top. Too many browsers try to make the top portion bigger than it should be. Call me old fashioned, but I HATE tabbed browsing. So much easier to just open every website in a new window so I can Command+tab my way between them. If you got 8 tabs open, and the browser crashes, you lose 'em all. I spread my sites between different browsers so if one dies, I don't lose all my sites.

Try to use System Monitor to find something that's eating your CPU up. I also got Temperature Gauge Pro installed that has a temperature reading in the menu bar. It has helped immensely to find 'sneak circuits' aka apps in background running amok.

Once, a system process being used by Firefox when browsing Android Central's forums was doing 99% CPU usage, all four cores, and the battery life was projected as "100%, will last 2 HOURS".

Killed the browser, it then jumped to lasting 6-8 hours. I also get a bit worried whenever the temp goes from its normal range of 36-48 Celcius to something scary like 75-90 Celcius with the fans going crazy.

From my observation kernel_task, kernelmanagerd, WindowServer, mds_server all seem to take turn consuming CPU power continuously (30% on average). Seems a little difficult to narrow down the problem. I'll take a deeper look this weekend.

First time I ever uninstalled a beta as there was no solution to 3rd party plugins not showing up in Logic Pro 10.5.1. Hit and miss as to why only certain plugs were ignored by Logic Pro that are there functioning in Catalina and Beta Sur 1&2. Beta 3&4 8pluggins from various manufacturer are not present in Logic.
Looking in Plug-in manager, they are not there to try an enable. One manufacturer has 1 plug not present and the rest are fine. All plugs are up to date.
