Not understanding the comment. You are aware that not every build gets released to beta program right?
A way for us to judge how many changes were made between betas is looking at the build number. It is usually around 7-10 builds higher when the beta cycle is one week and 10-14 when it’s two weeks. 20 builds higher is a good indication that most probably lots of changes were made in beta 4. Of course, we don’t know when Apple is doing a build, but it seems they’re doing daily builds. As there are 11 working days since beta 3 was released, 20 builds ahead is more than expected. For example, iOS 14 Beta 4 is 10 builds higher than Beta 3 which matches the daily build assumption.

Anyone on the beta develop full time (web applications/ML/Computer Vision) on the Big Sur beta? I upgraded my backup machine, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on my other machines because I haven't fully stress-tested some software. I'm happy to report issues and help to fix upstream problems, but if something is glaring (Python/Bash problems) I gotta wait.

Yes I know, if you don't know what you're doing don't upgrade, but I do know what I'm doing -- Just looking to see how much trouble it's going to actually be.
I have been doing some iOS and web development and haven’t had major issues.

No. thanks. I've been sick of flat design ever since iOS 7 and OS X Yosemite. We've been flat longer than we've been skeuomorphic. I'm welcoming the latter's return. Design exists in cycles anyway. Skeuo would have catapulted us into the holographic by now if not for us regressing back to the days of Amiga Workbench and Tandy Deskmate.

How very dare you diss Amiga Workbench!

I have developed a MacOS app for BigSur (SwiftUI) in Xcode since beta 1 and that environment has been very stable. Cannot really say I see a difference between BigSur beta 4 and the current Catalina version.

The analogue clock widget with the second hand running backwards (counter clockwise) is a new bug 🤪

I dislike the changes they've made to the menubar. The selection roundrect is harder to see. Its more lighter.

Still got some weird AU problem where several plugins don’t even show up in plugin manager. Working in beta 2, no changes otherwise. They are in the components folder. Even one manufacturer, just one plugin isnt available, the rest working. From beta 3 and 4 only.
First time I haven’t been able to use a beta without a solution.

Workbench 1.2. Pretty flat UI design ain't it? the 1980s folks! It's been done before. Everytime someone claims flat is 'new' or 'modern' I keep having to prove them wrong.

Don't like the new Safari. Looks like a Chrome wannabe to me.

Whatever happened to think different? Might as well pick up a PC and run Chrome.

Here’s me hoping that my recently acquired and upgraded pre-owned 13-inch MacBook Pro (2012) eventually becomes officially supported.

I understand that there is precedent for this (for Mojave, I believe).
There’s no precedent. Apple isn’t going to add back support for the 2012 computers.

I have the earlier beta but cannot seem to get 4 through Software Update. Have restored defaults and reinstalled the Dev profile, and still nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Umm.. That's more due to lack of VP9 codec support in Safari till recently, 4K youtube is exclusively in VP9 format (Now AV1 is being added)...How do you expect to play 4K at that site if the browser doesn’t have the codec.

Disable VP9 in any browser you’d get the same result.

Apparently has enough use to warrant AMD and Intel CPUs to have hardware acceleration for VP9 plus obviously Android TV boxes and phones... Yeah I agree not as popular as H265 by but I wouldn’t say little supported though.
Even the iPhone 6 and 6s have hardware decode support, it just was never exposed in software.

I am. I am merely noticing the 20-count difference between beta 3 build number and beta 4 build number, is all.

Still no public Beta even though it was supposed to hit last month.... :(
Where is public betaaaaa
im sure we'll get the public one next month
“macOS Big Sur public beta delayed until 2021, page for complaints against Apple now available on macrumors.com.” :p
What I’m really looking forward to is an article that has the word combinations “Big Sur”, “public beta” and “now available” in its title.
Ideally in that sequence.
Looks like it's out: https://www.macrumors.com/2020/08/06/macos-big-sur-public-beta/

Anyone else notice that the fan is running exceptionally loud? KernelManagerD seems to be the culprit? I haven't experienced this on other betas.... MBP 2018 16G Ram i9

Made an account just to say that I'm experiencing the same issue. mds_store seems to be using 30-50% CPU most of the time. Ran sudo fs_usage -w -f filesys mds_stores to check which files are being indexed by mds_stores as suggested here and the culprit seems to be kernelmanagerd.

Other than that the Public Beta seems to be running quite nicely.

issue in Beta 4 with music. The play button from the actual Song doesn't seem to start playing although it does line it up to be played. You have to click the play button up top to get it to play.
