still no go for parallels and fusion

There are temporary fixes to get Parallels working though it requires running a terminal command every time you start up the app. I used the suggestions linked below with success yesterday.

You will not see that until the YouTube app is updated and that will not happen until the fall.
Check googles code. If it detects safari, won’t allow 4K. Stupid google!

I haven't laughed that hard in nearly 6 months...thank you Apple.
You mean google? They are the ones preventing it. Check the code in safari. If it detects safari, it won’t allow 4K. This was a funny post. I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time. Thank you

I’m noticing an absolutely HUGE increase in speed with this update. Apps/tasks that would take my iMac 15+ seconds on the last beta are now in the 1-2 second range.

I’m certainly loving this!

YES! Finally 4K HDR support in safari. Only took 5 years 😃
Google uses a quirky proprietary codec that has little support. Don’t count on seeing it yet. Google still traps safari and won’t allow 4K. Heck they won’t release a google drive fix. Stupid google. Btw. My daughter had a conversation about replacing an office chair in front of her google mini. Started receiving ads for chairs within 5 minutes. Some would call that convenient. Kinda creepy to me

Have you tested SMB performance in B4? Would be awesome if that was improved

Umm.. That's more due to lack of VP9 codec support in Safari till recently, 4K youtube is exclusively in VP9 format (Now AV1 is being added)...How do you expect to play 4K at that site if the browser doesn’t have the codec.

Disable VP9 in any browser you’d get the same result.

Apparently has enough use to warrant AMD and Intel CPUs to have hardware acceleration for VP9 plus obviously Android TV boxes and phones... Yeah I agree not as popular as H265 by but I wouldn’t say little supported though.

How is Big Sur coming along?

Stable? Better than the Catalina was at this point?

Azrael.

Beta 4 seems quite stable, definitely more so than even the current version of Catalina for me.

I’ve had more crashes and freezes on Catalina in its first 3-4 months of release than I honestly ever had my entire time on Win Vista and 7 combined (4-5 Years) ...

Curious to know which Macs support the 4K videos in YouTube. If I remember correctly, VP9 support was not added until Skylake, which means at least late 2016 MacBook Pro and 2017 iMac.
It works fine on my 2014 13" MBP (4k60) but no HDR, I even tried the 8K on this video
and it does work quite well for being this laptop, but it stutters a bit, and the heat will make eggs evaporate.

Here’s me hoping that my recently acquired and upgraded pre-owned 13-inch MacBook Pro (2012) eventually becomes officially supported.

I understand that there is precedent for this (for Mojave, I believe).

Have there been any significant UI updates or icon updates etc.? How's dark mode looking? I'm liking what I am hearing about the performance improvements. Anyone tried this on a Mac Pro?

Catalina seems to chug along more than any previous Apple OS I'm used to, but it's a requirement for the Mac Pro with the XDR displays.

It looks like the Battery Percentage went away in the Menu Bar - just the icon. Any way to bring it back?

I have an issue with EVERY beta so far.. every time it reboots from the install sequence , it says there was an issue upgrading.. I force it to restart, and it completes.. not sure why..

Anyone on the beta develop full time (web applications/ML/Computer Vision) on the Big Sur beta? I upgraded my backup machine, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on my other machines because I haven't fully stress-tested some software. I'm happy to report issues and help to fix upstream problems, but if something is glaring (Python/Bash problems) I gotta wait.

Yes I know, if you don't know what you're doing don't upgrade, but I do know what I'm doing -- Just looking to see how much trouble it's going to actually be.

I've been developing on Big Sur since beta 3 but I only use Unity, Rider, Xcode so far so good, I have to say beta 4 is definitely more smooth than beta 4 even than Catalina.
