Day 68. It's been over two months since this whole thing started. Recently beta 4 came out, and for the first time in weeks we experienced an emotion I would have called hope a year ago. I should have known better.

Animations are still laggy. Scrolling stutters so much it keeps me awake at night. Children started crying. I've been telling my people rescue is coming and Apple will never abandon us, but frankly, I am starting to doubt myself.

More and more, it seems like we have to accept that the prosperity we've had for decades is gone forever. We will have to adjust to this new world where quality, promises and certainties no longer exist.

Apple as we know it is gone and we will have to adjust. I don't know how, but it's the only way.

Until now iOS 9 is crap on a 4S, slow like molasses, wish I could at least go back to iOS 8, or better iOS 6.

Actually, I need a new iPhone, but they get more expensive by the year.
Seems like there are ways to go back to iOS 8 as well as iOS 6 when it comes to the 4S.

Downloading now.Hoping the atrocious lags are sorted out

People shouldn't be allowed to post lag comments unless they specify what and where. I'm happy to try to reproduce it. Because I don't have any lag I'm aware of it's not someplace I normally go or do on my phone. Or it's an app I don't use. I've restored my phone as new to try and help people but ya' gotta give us something to help with.

Downloading beta 4 now on my 6 Plus. Will post my notes in 24-48 hours as 2 hours is not enough time to post battery life results.

Installed on my mini 2; not seeing any differences so far. Only things still worth complaining about are app switcher and spotlight. I can deal with what's been there since iOS 7 (keyboard/App Store/spotlight rotation etc) because it doesn't come up as much. But I use the app switcher and spotlight multiple times per day and it feels awful to use them still.

The battery life is so bad!
I just lost 5% in 5 mins!
WTF?
All the previous betas were great though!
iPhone 6S Plus

Update:
Apparently, it was caused by Vainglory. It would not install its latest update, would go on a loop draining the battery. I had to delete and redownload the app.

The whole thread looks to be about numbersync to me.

I would read through again. It hardly covers wifi calling. Numbersync is to use your phone number to make calls on devices that by themselves do not have calling abilities or they rely on your iPhone directly connected to make a call. Numbersync will allow you to use your iPad, Wifi connected and nowhere near your phone, to make and receive calls as if it was a giant iPhone. It works well. I can place my iPhone in airplane mode and talk through my iPad as if it were my phone and when calling people they have no idea since the number they see on their caller ID is that of my cellphone. My iPad is not a cellular model. I do this with my Apple Watch too.

I would read through the thread again since it does indeed cover Numbersync as its subject.

I should step back just a bit here and say that yes, this is to do with WiFi calling but not the WiFi calling feature exactly. It is to use WiFi calling on devices with WiFi without needing the phone phone nearby to do it.

Okay, it took me some time to figure this out, so thank you for being patient. Even after downloading this latest beta, all I have is wifi calling the switch to add other devices (that would allow them to send and receive calls/text even when the phone is not around) is missing. So I don't think it is working for me. I have the ability to use my ipad but only when it and the phone are connected on the same wifi. I can also make calls even when the cell is not working on the phone. But leaving the phone at home and still being able to make calls/send messages on my ipad -- I can't do that and never could.

Mine, so far, has been at 70% for almost 30 minutes. Usage is on and off, totaling 2-3 minutes.

iP6, was on b3.

Impressions so far:

-1.4GB download
-New build, as mentioned, is 13C75 not the build mentioned in the article

-Touch ID is much better than b3. I was having lots of failed attempts. None so far in the few hours I've been using b4.
-animations seem better, still not great, but getting there.

Will see how battery life goes the next few days.

Previous beta introduces way more problems than fixes, and some of my music files are corrupted for apparently no reason. I need to sync those from iTunes again to solve it. Not a big deal but some of them are my favourite. Then, it shocks me quite a lot when enjoying music. Too bad.
System is still overall laggy. From game playing, switching from app to home screen, to swiping from one page to another in home screen. Too many. They are not so easy to be reproduced, but they are there. (Until here I always refer to beta 3)
I don't know how good or bad beta 4 is yet. Hope it can be overall better than before.

Have you tried Clean install :) ?

I thought the only model which you can switch to an earlier iOS is the iPhone 4 with blobs, I should investigate.

Cheers

Odysseus OTA & Odysseus OTA 2 allow you to downgrade to iOS 6 or iOS 8, though I am not sure if there is any benefit to reverting to iOS 8 on the 4s as iOS 9 is about the same in terms of speed.

I'm on 6S with 9.1 and, for me, opening the camera app while listening to music stops the playback. Can someone please confirm if this behaviour is the default and if it has been changed on 9.2. Thanks

I was having a signal issue with beta 3 but I see it's fixed with beta 4. :)) my phone wouldn't reconnect after losing a signal. I drove by an area where I lose service and I was surprised to see my phone automatically reconnected. I have to say I'm rather happy that Apple saw my feedback and fixed that. :)

Works fine on iP6 iOS 9.2 b4. I would doubt that would be default behavior. Perhaps a "reset all settings" would be worth a try. That solves a lot of screwy issues as you are describing and is easy and non-destructive. (not the erase all settings)
