iOS 14 came out around 9pm uk time if I recall correctly... maybe software is released later sometimes....

Technically... the article is correct. Apple "released" iOS 14.1 today.

But there are CDNs and data centers around the world that are involved here.

I think they explained it with the statement "The software appears to still be rolling out and is not yet available for over-the-air download"

Should MacRumors have waited until every last device on Earth gets the update? Could we find something else to complain about? :p

If I were to be in charge of iOS development, I would have the user able to allow certain apps to operate while the phone is locked. Namely (and for me, only) my grocery list.
Simple... take a pic / screen grab of the grocery list and set it as your lock screen wallpaper

I haven't upgraded yet either half laziness and half waiting for bugs to get sorted out. Sounds like the health app has a bad bug. Curious to know if 14.1 clears up that particular bug.

Despite all of the security updates that are included in each major release, I tend to wait for the software to work, especially with all the surprises we've seen in 2020. Who knows how many security problems they added.

That's... amazing!

I can't believe I've never thought of that. I usually set my screen timeout to 5 minutes or never since it's annoying to keep unlocking my phone as I stroll through the store.

Thank you! :p

Be careful which USB-C cables you use. The T2 scandal expands weekly.

Scandal? What scandal? I know it's a vulnerability, but a scandal? Did someone cover it up? Was there a commission to investigate the vulnerability? Weird. But yes, no xzy123 cables from China for me. Anker, Belkin, and Apple for me.
