I'd just delete the profile. Because next week regardless your iOS will update if it's not current.
This. Install the profile, install the RC, then remove the profile.

Last year, the RC was not the same as the public release...we actually had to remove the profile in order to get the true final/public build since it wasn't released to the beta channels.

If there happens to be another RC released in the next few days, then just re-install the profile and repeat.

I wouldn't bother updating to a newer RC because the amount of time before the public release makes it not worth the effort.

First time running iOS 16 (been 2 hours now)
So far, seems to be another disappointing and underwhelming iOS release from apple… hopefully it grows on me but initial reaction is “this was worth the hype?”

Lock Screen and pull down notifications facelift is cool though

I have the Public Beta on my ipad pro, but haven't gotten the last two updates, I think. It says I'm on 16.1 (20B5027f). Is that the latest version or not? If not, how do I make it update - it says I'm up to date.

Edit: It's an older version, from August 23. It seems that changing your apple ID password messes up the Beta Profile - will try to fix this.

Another edit: After redownloading and installing the Beta Profile, it's still not updating - any ideas?

Installed the public beta, which is my first dip into this beta cycle. Gotta learn all the new things so I can show my family how to do the things that have changed in this version.

For iPadOS, you are currently on the most recent beta release. Nothing exciting for iPad today!

Installed it today on my Xs Max. I agree, it seems like another disappointing and underwhelming iOS release.

Sorry, I'm new to betas this year.

I have the public beta of ios 16 installed. If I want to make sure I get the final public release on the 12th do I just delete the profile now? And then will my beta update to the public release?

I had an odd issue throughout all the betas. I figured it was just some weird bug only I was having, but it was still there after installing the RC, so I decided to do some troubleshooting...
  • I 'Reset All Settings'. Still broken.
  • I 'Erased All Contents and Settings' and set up as new. Works as expected now.
  • I 'Erased All Contents and Settings' again, and restored from an encrypted backup. Still works as expected.
Note, I did not reinstall iOS 16 at any point, so the OS/system volume wasn't corrupted. It seems strange that something in my data volume was affecting this, and that only 'Erase All Contents and Settings' would fix it.

At least the restore didn't carry the cruft over and break it again. Now I know why some people still like to upgrade using a computer and restore from a backup. So if something isn't working the way you'd expect, sometimes you have to do the nuclear option to wipe everything and restore.

Ugh. The RC has more bugs than PB4. The 13 mini unlocks with Apple Watch only sporadically, apps crashing randomly, etc.

Hope they release RC 0.1 soon.

am I the only one staying on ios 16 beta 8?! it’s the fastest, best battery life release of IOS I’ve never seen in years. I’m thinking of staying on this one until 16.4(the stable dot release every year)
Beta 8 was horrendous for me. Choppy animations, bad battery drain and the slightest of delays when using the display, especially noticeable when typing on the keyboard with haptics enabled.
Just started using the RC after it installed over night and the first 10 minutes are better than the last week with beta 8.

Has anyone else gotten a "cannot verify if these AirPods are genuine" popup that links to an empty support page? This is what safari has in the URL bar after clicking, but its possible that this is just the ID for any 404 page. Very real set of AirPods, It might have just gotten confused because I was flipping the case open and closed repeatedly.

how's the UI, lags or battery and etc ? I mean overall worth the update ? I'm on 13 mini...

I have both a mini and a bigger phone, I think the older icon makes it easier to see what’s going on at a glance, rather than the new tiny digits which I have to squint at to read.
The new battery icon should also get smaller as the power diminishes as the old one does.

how's the mini doing on ios 16 ?

This is likely the build that will get released on Monday, unless major issues are found and a new build is needed.
Since reviewers probably already have their units and iOS has to be flashed on all the phones shipping a week from now, I think it’s all but certain this is the final .0 version that is on the new devices and will be released on Monday. Any changes will have to wait for 16.0.1.

Multiple RCs are possible when new devices aren’t about to ship. That’s why iOS 13.0 had to be released, even though it was in such a rough state.
