simpin issue

Hello there
is the simpin problem and the eventual phantom usage a problem in the united states and canada as well? BEcause lots of people in germany and in other european countrys having this probs here with their phones. Sure they can get exchange devices but apple always wants their customers to wait until the next ios5 update is released. So now then at least the developers have access to it, is it possible to say that the two issues at the beginning get fixed or not?

Thanks for reading
regards from germany :)

beta alarm clock issue

I got the beta yesterday. I set my alarm clock for a 4am wake up. It didn't ring. It still says set. How do a submit the bug to Apple?

I missed my flight due to oversleeping. Luckly my wife called and woke me up and I could make the next one!

mmm, signs are not looking good for these betas. I'm beginning to think they just stuck in the same old battery without optimising the software and quoting similar usage figures as the 4, thinking no one would notice.

Yea, That's a good assumption to make... except when you assume... you make an ass out of you and me. Oh wait, just you.

There is no reason to assume that. Especially since not every 4S user is experiencing the lessened battery life. It's more likely, then... that there were some bugs when iOS5 was rolled out on a large scale. I know it sucks... but give them time to resolve it in the software.

It is hardware rather than software problem.I mean the battery life.Just the battery is too weak.Physically, it should be stronger.I think is stupid to disconnect the phone most of the functions in order to improve her time.

I.couldn't be having more agreeings.I mean.In regards with your havings of grammers. and spelling. of course. I wouldn't wish the disconnectings. I mean of the battery. of course. In order to make more of her functions.

reading your quote is like being hit in the head with a ball peen hammer repeatedly...

No, just because its a battery life issue, doesn't mean its the battery's fault. If that were always the case... then Android world would be right in making all their users shove an ugly, bulky, extended battery that looks like a car battery onto the back of their phones in order to make it through half a day with a charge. The fact is, software plays a huge part in battery life, especially on a mobile device with as many radios as the iPhone. Software needs to be as efficient as possible, and any bugs can cause major loss of battery life. They aren't taking features out to fix the phone... they are just optimizing and fixing bugs.

This wreaks of "antenna-gate"... a.k.a. sound and fury over an issue that in the end, means nothing.

does this release have some effect on 4s display settings? Yellowish screen problems/white point settings?

lol

Hey guess what? My 4S has no battery issues at all. Guess you're wrong.

iOS 5.0.woops?

so after shiplevel betas can come out daily? Has the test-procedures been cut out of the development cycle?

800 megabytes for a delta? SiriOSly?
Exactly what I thought! It has something to do with some Siri update. I'm sure it's not just a battery fix. They are probably making things more difficult to jailbreak and hack Siri. I wonder how an OTA update is going to complicate the jailbreaking process.

For those following my status this is my latest report after having 5.0.1 v2 installed and cellular info updated, emptied battery once and did a full recharge with the phone in the charger for about 8hrs in one go:

Features:
Bluetooth off
notifications a few on, none except phone and message actually used
push on, but nothing was pushed
WiFi, testet both on and off, no difference
3G on, but not used, was on WiFi when surfing.
locations, about 10 apps on, maybe one used for a short time. iAds, Time Zone and Traffic off.

Usage: 36 minutes
Standby 4hrs
Battery: 85%

Usage was surfing on wifi about 20mins and rest was checking settings, mail etc.

No improvement then. Sigh...

Posted the stats above right before going to bed, these are my stats when waking up:

Usage 1hr
Standby 16,5 hrs

Battery: 38%

I wish they would fix ringtone sound quality... A sound used as a ringtone sounds much more distorted than when it's used as an SMS sound for example.
Doesn't matter if it's a custom ringtone or the iconic Marimba. :(

I have seen no improvements in battery life with this beta or the previous beta. I did allow the phone to completely die and fully charge...

This morning, my phone lost 10% battery in 30 minutes of stand by with no usage. I think battery may have actually gotten worse!!!

wtf:apple:

Do you have to be a part of the iOS Developer Program? The one that is $99. Or do you just have to be a free registered developer?

If it is a 40-80MB update, I personally don't mind it downloaded in the background (given that I've got an option to say automatically download new updates).

How long does it take to install the update?

Glad they can fix this sort of thing via an update. But it does call into question their "real-world" testing: how come this battery life issue wasn't spotted before.

A bit of improvement in beta 2

I have had all 5 generation iPhones. My battery life of my iPhone 4S is by far the worst of all versions. I don't really use siri. The most I have ever used it in one day was probably 6 times. I didn't really have enough time to test 5.0.1 beta 1, since I only had it for 1 and a half days before I upgraded to beta 2, not enough time to be able to see any improvements.
After upgrading to beta 2, I drained the battery and fully charged it for about 7 hours during the night. The battery does improve with iOS 5.0.1 beta 2. But the iPhone 4's(notice the apostrophe) was much better when I first got it 14 months ago. I hope it improves as we move up in the beta versions. Either way, I'm keeping my iPhone 4S.
Bluetooth on - used in car.
wifi on at all times - used at home very little.
siri raise to speak off
diagnostics & usage location service off
location-based iAds off

IOS 5 sucks!!!

I am so over this latest version. Toooo many bugs and issues. Hurry apple!:mad::mad:
