Not all of us have the problem with our 4S. Mine even has both location services and bluetooth turned on (notice the bluetooth icon) and I can get this :

So yeah... the battery issue is with something in the software, not the phone itself. I gotta admit, the sucker drains like no tomorrow if I leave the Google+ app running, so I don't.

Is it iOS 5.0.1 or 5.1b3?

Recently updated to b3, and boy is the battery life much, much better. Wow! Impressed and noticeably different.

I live in a bad service area for AT&T, so my phone was constantly switching between 3G and EDGE. Now that the toggle is back, it helps my battery a lot!

Is the "impressive and noticeable" difference attained by switching to EDGE? Or are you getting better results with 3G, as well?

Thanks.

i have seen that on ip4 as well as on ip4S (both 5.0 and 5.1) - this seems to be more related with operators BTS stations, not the iphone itself.

What would cause this to happen only on 5.1 beta 2/3.. Didn't happen on 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.1 beta 1

How about bringing back the old iPod icon. The new music/video icons are fugly and unnecessary too.

Anybody know why they did that to begin with?

I prefer them separate. The icons are nice. They split it to match the iPod touch and iPad. All in 1 app was too crammed. Plus makes it easier for iTunes match if music is a seperate app. That's not a coincidence that match came our as part of iOS 5 which brought the split.

Things change, don't be a stick in the mud. Adapt and carry on.

Why would they keep an outdated icon that shows a typical iPod from a half decade ago?

I just think it looks nicer. Plus, that's one less icon on the home screen as well.

Just my opinion.

One less but it's too messy cramming music and videos in 1 app. Plus makes it easier to put in a folder. Music in my music apps folder with shazam and spotify and video goes in my video apps folder with VLC Player, SkyGo, Netflix, BBC iPlayer. More logical!

iPod app is outdated and irrelevant.....

Meh, never found it crammed that way but to each their own.

But you gotta admit, the icons replacing the iPod icon look horrible. They don't have the same shiny look all the other ones have so they stand out as looking old. (because they are the same icons used since the very first iPod touch and have never been updated since)

Nah, I like them, much better than the iPod one. Plus the iPod looks older and it is older as it was there since the original iPhone, which was before the iPod touch came out and it's never been updated either.....

Remember, as UMTS (3G) is newer than GSM, many new builds are NOT getting UMTS. In my area, GSM is only on about half of AT&T's towers. Signal and coverage are both much, much better on UMTS.

Not only that, the current iPod Touch (1st gen) 3.1.3 Music app icon is "grungy," yes, but actually has a brighter white gradient than the iOS 5.1b3 one (comparing my iPod Touch 1G vs iPhone 4S).
