I think Apple messed up and released it as a beta, when it should be a GM. I bet that come tomorrow morning or Monday morning, Apple will fix it and change it to GM and post the release notes.

Makes the most sense...

I've been bummed out by Apple's software releases as of late. Am I the only one that feels they're focusing too heavily on their hardware and the software development is taking a back seat. I'm speaking in regards to patching their current apps and OS.

Lion was the first sign of Apple's decline in software quality control. iOS is now suffering the same lack of quality control and consistency.

Would this explain 1. Why the release notes have not been updated to mention "5" and why I get 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build' when I have updated the same devices before with no issues? I noticed this latest release is only a restore file, where with the previous downloads the DMG expanded to a PKG file then extracted the DMG.

I think people are more upset that there are ZERO new features. iOS 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, and 5.1 all brought some new features. It would be nice if there was at least one new feature.

You mean buying movie tickets with Siri doesn't count? ;)

Apple needs to stop releasing "tentpole" features once a year. One a year is plenty of time for people consider other phones. This is especially true when their major releases aren't that major in the first place. If they increase more useful features in less time, it would give their products much more perceived value and make Apple seem more nimble like Google.

You mean there's an OTA update available?

I'm not an iOS developer so I don't know if it is or not. I misinterpreted you and thought that you were saying it is available for this build, but never for GMs.

Everybody in this thread should go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and tell Apple to add the Mountain Lion dock. This is getting ridiculous. I thought they were maybe just waiting for later betas.

No ota update

OTA does not seem to work from BETA 4?

Is everyone else not able to update OTA

I have iOS 6.1b4 installed on my iPhone 5 and can confirm that the iOS6.1b5 update did NOT appear in the OTA settings.

Anyone else?

Does this lend credence to the GM theories?

Disappointed yet again. I know x.1 updates usually aren't that big but there hasn't been any major updates since IOS 5.

Can anyone do Safari mobile browser benchmarks like Sunspider and HTML5? Browsermark as well and see if they made Safari any faster please if you have beta 5 installed on your phone
