Hope this fixes the no signal issue that's plagued my iPhone 5 since I got it.

I think they've got a very small team working on iOS 6.1. The rest of them are probably busy with iOS 7. Especially if, as the rumours suggest, an iPhone 5S is coming this summer. That means they must be pretty far along with iOS 7 development already, if true. And it may finally have some UI changes if Ive is getting his input.

Perhaps so.

Just looked at iOS version history in Wikipedia. The number of features pales in comparison to past software updates.....

iOS 6.1, the most mediocre software update ever.

Please tell me it fixes the latency issue when using Bluetooth headsets. Most annoying thing ever watching video and have all the sound out of sync after the screen goes black or the first 2 seconds of all my songs past the first track get cut off. This issue occurred with iOS6 and has never happened in any version before.

What did you expect when it was succeeding the most mediocre iOS release to date?

Anyone know if it fixes the issue I've been having on my ipad mini since day 1 where I can't sync any music or download podcasts or music from icloud? It's extremely frustrating and I have tried everything to fix it (DFU restore, settings reset etc)?

Everybody in this thread should go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and tell Apple to add the Mountain Lion dock. This is getting ridiculous. I thought they were maybe just waiting for later betas.
I think the Mountain Lion Dock will come with iOS 7....it will be a "major UI change" :D

----------

It activates LTE on the iPhone in some countries.

Still no love for Romania...
All of our carriers have LTE, some of them since last year...
....Vodafone, Orange, Cosmote (Soon to be T-Mobile)

if it happens in north america, it happens everywhere else.

Not down under, I have had no issues with it changing from lte and 3G and back again. Perhaps if it doesn't happen down under then it doesn't happen everywhere else :D:D:D

I'm not trying to be a smartass. I am telling the truth as it is.
Your call if you accept it or not.

Schönen Tag noch.

Who asked you though? my first question was answered and the other one was a joke which you obviously didn't understand. So there was no reason for you to "tell me the truth as it is".

Still no LTE on portuguese Vodafone, anyone knows if they can "unlock" LTE without releasing a firmware?sort of like one of those carrier updates that sometimes showed up on itunes?

If I tell you, I'll have to kill you;)

Has me either worried, or excited.

iOS 6 was a huge update. Even if you're just looking at user level stuff - Passbook alone is a big deal to me. Mail VIP is huge. FB integration is something I use a lot. Maps of course. But all of that is really minor compared to the major new APIs us developers got to enjoy.

That said, iOS 6.1 seems like its been in beta a VERY long time and its got only 2-3 minor changes and 1 API addition. Very strange. Almost as if all the iOS devs are working on something else…

EXACTLY. To be quite honest I really enjoyed the new iOS update. Facebook integration was a major plus, Maps is one of the best looking Maps app (I know everybody hates Maps, but it works quite well for me and I haven't had it be wrong for me yet), and the new APIs that devs got were AMAZING.

That said, they're focusing on iOS 7. It's obvious. This or probably iOS 6.1.1 will be the last iOS 6, as we head towards summer and get our iOS 7 preview!

I'm not an iOS developer so I don't know if it is or not. I misinterpreted you and thought that you were saying it is available for this build, but never for GMs.

Don't mind me asking but what is this mountain lion dock everyone wants. Is it the same one in mountain lion on iPhone. IMO the current ios dock looks good. Cam you give me a link to a concept image or some explanation please :)

They need to hurry up with iOS 7. And make it good. iOS is so stale at this point, anyone who denies it is delusional.

This is certainly a minimal upgrade per previous point releases. There are API enhancements end users will not appreciate because those are obviously for apps to upgrade to.

If you want more detail you can google
ios 6.1 api diff
And that will take you to sites with more info.

LTE not working in Denmark with this beta. Hm.

It's not working in Switzerland either, although the carrier bundle for Swisscom was upgraded from 13.0 to 14.0.

At this point I speculate on one of the following:
- this is not the GM, and the final version will contain newer carrier bundles (maybe 14.1 for Swisscom?)
- this is the GM, but LTE will be enabled for the missing European carriers separately, by rolling out the carrier bundle files (they did update carrier bundle files separately in the past)

iOS 6.1 beta 3 (or was it beta 4?) had LTE on TMN and Vodafone. Though since it's in the 1800MHz band, it's only available in a handful of places, and you'll have to wait for the carriers to use the new frequency in more places.

Yeah that´s the problem :(

So it'll be interesting to see how the next week or so pans out. There will need to be an update pushed out by Friday for the support of LTE in some European countries. I wonder if that will be a iOS 6.0.3 release or this iOS 6.1? With a lot of signs pointing this toward the GM build that seems the more likely option.

I think this may be the final software release on the iPhone 3GS so they want to get it as perfect as possible so they don't have to revisit and fix bugs, so then every available iOS programmer can work on iOS 7.

If the rumours are true, then I think Apple will be focused on releasing the first beta of iOS 7 in the Spring (like they used to do) in order to have it ship on the iPhone 5S reportedly coming in the Summer (WWDC?).
