For those having issues with OTA, turn off wifi first to find the update, then turn it back on to update.

Thanks! That worked for my 4S. Alas no joy for my wifi-only iPad 3. Guess I will download the whole enchilada for that.

The changelog known so far:
- No YouTube app
- Welcome screen after updating
- Faster Safari
- Maps: street names seen more denser
- Maps: 3D buildings in Toronto (Canada)
- Maps: 2D building edges in Budapest (Hungary)

Also, iTunes Match streaming quality seems MUCH improved!

Is autocorrect working with bluetooth keyboards yet?

None of the past Betas have had it, yet it's a promised feature...

Still getting the error when trying to do the OTA from beta 3. Even tried on 3G.

EDIT: Just worked for me as soon as I posted. Go figure lol

took ages for it to show up for me,
i turned on airplane mode, then turned it on and off.
still didnt show up, but a load of voicemails did :eek:

i just left it, and checked and it finally showed up. got beta 4,
but seemed to take ages for the instill to happen,

Hope not. Maps still has a long way to go...

It's not appearing for me yet on an iPhone 4 in the UK...

Maps app could be updated via the web / other protocol I assume, since the Maps is not stored offline. the same as the app store app I guess.

I'm guessing there will be another beta before the GM, cause there seems to be a lot of known issues with the build.

Apple also disabled Facetime over network in the beta 4. Now requires AT&T subscription:

scaled.php

Who uses Facetime anyway? Tango is much better. Can't wait to leave AT&T for VZW. This is still ridiculous.

Same here. Just got 19 voicemails... seemed they weren't working correctly on the last beta... funny I didn't realize it until now. Anyone else noticing this as well?

Extremely bizarre. It effected my voicemails and iMessages/SMS.

After updating my iPhone 4S and iPad's, my phone number and @me.com/@icloud.com emails all finally work together. The previous beta was hit or miss. On my Mac Pro and devices, all texts show. I have to admit, this is perfect. As I'm almost always working, having the ability to send/receive messages on my Mac is a huge benefit. :)

Also, it does seem much smoother, especially Facebook app for some reason. iMessages send quicker as well.

Time to load this sucker on the upcoming iPhone and release it.

Enough rumors and FUD.. put the bloody thing on the market.

It's time to get on with the business of the next iPhone which will hopefully, be the one to have.

After all they will have had a year to sort out iOS6, plus get over their phobia of including a modern up to date screen size, with a proper aspect ratio.

New "Wi-Fi Plus Cellular" toggle in Settings allows apps to automatically fall back to cellular data when the Wi-Fi network the device is connected to is not performing well.

Does this mean that finally Apps won't sit there forever doing nothing because the browser is waiting for a stupid "Click to accept the WiFi terms" window?

Removal of the YouTube app is great news. The old one is largely unchanged since it was introduced and is very very limited, having long since been leapfrogged by the mobile web app. Now Google will get full control of "their" app and be able to develop and update it more regularly, and keep it much more relevant than the built-in one ever was.

It made sense years ago - to be seen as viable, iOS needed certain services; iOS needed YouTube. Now things have flipped and iOS is ingrained in the industry; YouTube needs to support iOS. Apple cutting it loose isn't a gamble - Google has to offer a YouTube app or they're ignoring half the smart mobile device market (Android being the other half, with the outliers remaining largely inconsequential).

Sure, there's probably corporate maneuvering going on between Google and Apple, and like Flash Player no longer being pre-loaded, people will find ways to beat this up into a huge drama. But like Flash Player, it's good for users for Google to be fully responsible for their app and maintain it independent of Apple's iOS cycles. And of course, for users to be able to choose whether to install it at all.

The correct thing I'd say is apple gave carriers control over it and AT&T is already disabling the feature? So stupid either way

It's been working for me on a carrier in Canada without issue, and quite smoothly too.

UConnect

This updated Beta 4 fixed the performance issues that i had with the latest UConnect software now my iPhone 4S coonects via Bluetooth almost instantly with no skipping during Audio Streaming. Theres still a little lag when skipping to next songs but I will take this with a :D

oh my god. I can't believe it. I emailed Steve Jobs like 2 years ago about wanting to have the phone to over-ride the wifi data connection with the cell connection if it wasn't working. I'm by no means saying he listened to me, but I ams SO happy to hear they finally implemented this feature!

Can anyone confirm if previous purchases are now accessible in the iTunes app? Does it now offer icloud downloads of previously purchased TV shows/Movies?

Thanks!

You guys stink, stop downloading the update people! Mine keeps saying 'unable to check for update' try again.

Had to turn of wifi. Then found the update and after that had to turn on wifi again. Update then showed again and could be installed.

If you really care, you should go to
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
and submit your feedback.
Maybe they will listen and consider it when enough feedbacks are submitted.

All Apple Apps (and all Apps in general for that matter)
Should be allowed to be deleted (removed from iPhone) and moved into folders.
And folders should be able to store unlimited apps.

I think this is as straight forward logical as it gets. Seriously I know Apple wants to promote its apps, but sometimes they aren't for everyone.

Control the apps, Control the app store, but allow us to organize the apps how we want on our iPhones.

Google Maps is gone for good from iOS devices once iOS6 is installed.

I cannot wait for an updated maps application. It would be nice if Apple would preload the images of the maps so that I don't have to wait 10 minutes for it to sync with google when downtown chicago.

....or when you're driving and you're trying to get directions and you're like 1 minute away from the offramp and the google maps tells you the directions 2 minutes after you've made a split decision.
