No, you can tap "music" when no music is loaded on. iOS 7.1 beta 1 you have to play music then the title will come up and then tap it.
 
Hmm, now that sounds are fixed I went through mine to make some changes.

The new mail sound is still stuck on the classic sound :( despite me choosing something else.

They changed the functionality where if you hold down "." you will get .COM to autofill. Try it out!

Actually, it is probably being force-closed by iOS due to low memory (check the logs), which isn't really the same as crashing due to iOS bugs (i.e., it is intentional behavior). It is likely designed to deter a single [badly coded/overly complex/poorly optimized] web page (or app, really) from trying to use more RAM than the phone has. The idea is "why would you want to keep something loaded that is barely usable in the first place?"

But you are right, browser crashes are not okay.

Disclaimer: I'm inferring much of this and simplifying somewhat.

I'm confused with this too. Of all the apps I have had before on iDevices, Music has always been the most stable/predictable (barring Airplay).
 
Still no effing cellular data toggle button in the control center. Depending on wifi availability and travel, I turn cellular data off and on quite often with my iPad Air. How difficult it it to add the button? There's one for wifi and Bluetooth.

Is it just me or did this break SlingPlayer for iPhone? Slingplayer for iPad (a separate app) is fine. Spins and never connects..

I'm pretty sure the person you quoted said iOS 7. They made no mention of the beta. What's the excuse for iOS 7 being so buggy?

I've had a dev account since before ios 7 was released but tonight when I tried to get beta it put my phone into recovery mode now I'm back on 7.0.4
 
Does "dark keyboard" also mean you have the option of changing to a dark keypad on your phone (like it used to be with iOS 6 and earlier)?
 
I'm having a problem. When I upgraded to my 5S, I forgot to add the UDID to my dev acct. and got the activation error after the OTA 7.1b2.

I added the UDID 3 hours ago but my iPhone still gets the activation error. I've rebooted numerous times and have tried activation over cellular, wifi and cabled to iTunes. I copy & pasted my UDID from iTunes so I know I didn't screw that up but have double checked it just in case.

Is there typically a delay adding in a UDID going through to the activation servers?

Got the same error after going from beta 1 to beta 2. Guess I have to put 7.0.4 back on my ipad, oh well. Guess they tightened up their beta access

I've done a LOT of work with UIWebView - the core component of Safari. I've talked a lot with the dev of iCab Mobile, Alexander Clauss, on these matters. So I do know what I'm speaking about:

It's mostly because of the enormous RAM memory usage of that widget that crashes (and, in Safari, killed tabs) are abound, not those of Web pages. Surely, some Web pages can crash Safari even with plenty of RAM available (this is how the 4.3 JB became possible), but you need to search very hard to find such pages. Casual pages don't crash Safari.

I've tested it on my 7.0.4 (clean install, haven't restored any backups) iPhone 5. No crashes. Will do the same ASAP on my 7.0.4 iPad 3.

EDIT: crashes the 7.0.4 iPad 3 even after a reset, without not loading anything. I'll test how much memory is used to load the (VERY long) page - I bet it's the enormous memory usage that crashes the iPad as the iPhone 5, which has the same amount of RAM but uses far less memory to render the same webpage, has no such issues.
