I think you drew that connection, not me. You also seem to have missed the context. The person I was replying to likened me to a person on a street corner holding up a sign proclaiming the end of the world.

I used the tsunami scenario to point out a danger that many of us actually see heading towards us. The danger is that Apple will lose marketshare because it loses its advantages of usability especially among users new to smartphones. The iOS 6 interface is intuitive for the elderly and toddlers to pickup and use right away not only because of the look but also the feel. Consider the page turn animation in iBooks which even Android tried so hard to mimic. Can you say the same thing for iOS 7? Will the uninitiated be able to pick it up and use it right way or will they be as confused by it as their are with Android and windows Metro?

Apple is losing their advantages by throwing away what they have learned and instead following everyone else instead of being a leader.

For full disclosure, I am a registered iOS developer, a windows developer (13+ years) and a mac user at home since 2002. I started out working on web interfaces for e-commerce back in the late 90's to early 2000's.

In case some of you simply cannot comprehend what I am trying to say, they could keep the ugly icons and that would not be the biggest problem. The biggest problem are the gestures and how the system reacts to your touch. The elastic scrolling with the flick of the finger in the contacts with the Rolodex index worked so perfectly. It was so intuitive for everyone as was the page turn animation and interaction mechanics of the iBook reader.

The problems with the iOS 7 interface go way beyond the lack of textures, depth or ugly icons. The way the UI reacted to your touch was not broken in iOS 6 but it is now. It is now just as crappy as Android. Congrats Mr. Ive, you flushed the UI patents that Apple had worked on over the years down the toilet so that you could look cool to your clueless hipster friends. Hipster ride fixie bikes. Their taste is the antithesis of ease of use.

The original analogy holds. There is NO problem.. you're pretending like there is. Like a weirdo proclaiming the world is ending tomorrow when it clearly isn't. Get it? Your analogy of the tsunami was still pretentious & chalk full of undeserved self-import. You are just part of the older group of people that are afraid of change & like to complain. You've found a milk crate here and are spouting off your ridiculous and laughable claims like Apple will lose market share b/c of a software update? Lol, get real. The level of nerds that are even aware of this are somehow also in this mythical group of morons you've made up in your mind that can't figure out how to use iOS 7? You're making negative sense.

Airplay seems to be significantly crippled in this build, I have 4 Airplay devices on my network, and streaming from Spotify to my 3rd party Yamaha receiver seems to work for a minute or two, but then stops.

When I swipe up to select a different Airplay device, it only finds the native Apple devices, not the 3rd party ones. Restarting the phone doesn't fix it, I have to reset my stereo (!) for it to be seen under iOS 7. Streaming works fine from my iOS 6 iPad to the missing devices :(

I've tried to again and again but still nothing:mad:

I had the same issue.. I did the following:

made a backup in itunes
on the phone under settings/general/reset I did "erase all content and settings"
phone rebooted, went through some setup questions, I went to check for software update and it finally showed up. updated to Beta 3 and then restored from the latest iTunes backup..

Ratings are back in Music.app!!!!! major functionality I was missing!

I hate where they are. Almost completely indiscoverable and takes too many taps to get there. Glad it's back at all but I hope they find a better place for it.

Apple has changed the system font in beta 3 to Helverica Neue Regular, instead of Helvetica Neue Ultra light. The latter is still being used, but only where it makes sense. Clarity is important in all kind of lighting conditions and an ultra light font doesn't help..That is why Apple changed the system font. It is a good change and it helps in almost every dialog in the new OS. Just compare how the old shutdown screen looked like (as far as readability concerns), or have a look how better it is now to read the options when you get an incoming call. Or have a look at the text of the messages.app...
It is a good step in the right direction and it shows that iOS 7 is still a work in progress. I guess we will be seeing more changes in the next weeks, but at some point Apple will freeze adding or changing things, as we are closing release...

I think you are right, it will be much more readable to many people. But visually I prefer the older font (Helvetica Neue Ultra Light) and being short-sighted readability is not an issue for me. In fact I've changed my font size to the smallest one possible… I like that you can chose your font size or even make it bold. I think especially older people will appreciate this.

Panoramic wallpaper option gone?

It seems I no longer have the option to select a panoramic wallpaper.

Just tap the album cover and it shows up directly under. Seems very easy.

It seems I no longer have the option to select a panoramic wallpaper.
Take a panorama... and a My Panoramas album will be created. From the Wallpaper options in Settings, select the Panorama from the My Panoramas folder and set the wallpaper.

I'm getting an error message when checking for the update. "Unable to check for update. An error occurred while checking for a software update." Currently running iOS 7 beta 2. It was telling me I was up to date this morning and has been giving me this error message since the beta 3 release. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Download it from the dev site

Is the new spotlight (gentle swipe down on any home screen page) new with beta 3 or was it like this previously?
