Mail preference Rule/Conditions window problem

Mail has a preference problem that has existed for a couple years.

The Condition window in Rules will extend off the bottom of the screen when 25 plus Conditions are entered causing the "Cancel" and "OK" buttons to be moved off the screen.

Select Preference
Select Rules
Create a new Rule
Create 25 plus conditions

Conditions Window will extend off bottom of the screen.
Click the Conditions window Resize button. The Rules window, one level below the Conditions window, will resize without affect the Conditions window.

Fortunately the OK button can be activated with the Enter key.

Try this... report you findings to Apple

Jim

Please, that's all nonsense. (Except for Apple's half-baked x64 implementation, of course)

64-bit is 4 billion times bigger than 32-bit. It would support 16 billion GiB of RAM even without memory management tricks (remember that Intel Windows and Linux servers can support 64 GiB of RAM on a purely 32-bit system).

No chipmaker has 128-bit CPUs on the roadmap, and possibly never will.

Someone took a joke comment as serious - take a few chill pills (I recommend a nice Sonoma-Cutrer chardonnay, with some free range goat cheese and organic whole wheat biscuits).

Spare us the misinformation.

Seriously.

MS is planning ahead. Windows 7 64bit is rock solid. Can't say the same for Apple's half baked Snow Leopard's 64bit implementation now can we? Should MS stick to 64bit till developers get of their asses and develop 64bit apps?

In this business you have only three choices. You either lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Care to explain the "half baked" part?

The list is quite small comparing to the earlier build. Seems like they are working fast :).

I just wish they fixed exposé to really like 10.6

What's wrong with Expose? I'm also having some problems. Maybe the same problem.

The big problem, of course, is that "All Windows" mode shows minimized windows of hidden applications.

In addition, the Snow Leopard window scaling is rubbish, the grid placement is very inefficient, and the blue frame around the active window is rather ugly. Plus, it activates too quickly to really keep track of what window is going where.

That's how it is supposed to work, so it works like it should. It's not broken just because you don't like the way it works now. They could give an option for it to operate like it did in 10.5, but that's not 'fixing' it, that's just giving the user more options.

Slow boot up time with SL 10.6.1

I have a 128gb SSD from Gskill / Falcon on a Macbook pro Late 2008

Since intaling SL the boot up time dropped dramaticaly, Also this last update on the HD stalls didin´t help.

Reset the PRAM and PMU improved a little bat not even close to the boot up on leopard 10.5.8

I want the old Expose back!

You and me both. I *hate* how small windows like a TextEdit file become the same size as (or usually larger than) larger Safari windows. While Safari shrinks, the text file remains unchanged in dimensions. Size was a great visual indicator of what the window contained in the old Exposé and you could tell at a glance what the app was.

Now Exposé seems to try and normalise the window size, which is a complete pain because if the window I'm looking for no longer looks like the window I'm looking for in relation to the other windows, it will be harder to find, right?

I mean, they've even built Quickview into Exposé now, so a window appearing too be small can be enlarged, so what problem are they trying to solve by enlarging smaller windows? *sigh*

Also, I wish the aqua buttons functioned in Expose, so it could be used as a window management tool to close or minimise unwanted windows.

In case either of you is serious, this 10.6.2 update is over 400 MB; not GB.

There's no need to buy an external terabyte drive for the update.

LOL, seriously, an update that's more than 50 times bigger than the OS itself... I would be quite surprised :)

I wish they would "fix" the menubar in Quicktime. I HATE how they have implemented the menubar inside of the window. If you load a simple 30 second clip, the menu bar stays visible for too long and blocks the view. I you move the mouse away form the menu, it will eventually fade away, but then you can't start the movie, even if you hit the return key. I liked it much better when it was at the bottom of the window. Whomever thought it was a good idea over the viewing area is an idiot.

You're wrong. Open two Safari windows. Minimise one, and leave the other in view before hiding the application, then viewing all windows in Exposé.

You'll see the minimised window from the hidden app, but not the other. I'd call that broken.

So is Apple going to fix this annoying issue for us 13" MBP users that happen to have the 9CC2 display?? Doesn't seem like Apple even acknowledges this to be an issue. Very frustrating, I'm reverting back to Leopard if this update doesn't fix it.

Exactly. In fact, SL has been virtually rock-solid since its debut...no problems to report here.

apple doesn't run iTunes in 64 bit mode unless the kernel is also running in 64 bit mode

you're pulling that out of your arse mate, heres a screenshot of my activity monitor, you can see the proof for yourself. Interestingly my computer (hackintosh) defaulted to 64 bit kernel and would panic when forced to boot with a 32 bit kernel.

yep same here, been rock solid for what i use it for. Not saying that its not rock solid for everyone though because different people use different applications and hardware etc etc.

i wont complain how apple keeps improving stuff though.

I am not. Open snow leopard running a 64 bit kernel. iTunes will be running 64 bit.

Run iTunes on an x64 Windows installation. It'll be a 64 bit app as well

Actually, it doesn't.

iTunes is still Carbon, not Cocoa.

Fact's are facts.

yes... iTunes? iWork? iLife.... probably the most used Apps on a Mac  :D

you know i was really looking forward to the promised ability to edit/work on applications while in expose? but the ability to close windows while in expose would be good... in addition if i click expose and a new window from any app appears while in expose... well try it and tell me what happens? im only on SL because i cant install windows 7 with a wireless keyboard and mouse

Those are applications, but the whole system is 64 bit if on capable system. I guess it's not so easy with iTunes and other applications will be updated soon, maybe iLife '10 and iWork '10. Correct me if I'm wrong.

apple could have done sooo much more with expose... instead of making it look better how bout making it work better

nice thought having 64bit iLife/iWork '10 - iTunes 64bit? lags sooo much for me :( and nice thought, but the mac may run on 64bit (in addition can anyone tell me how to see if its booting into 64bit?) but applications (like the ones i mentioned) still run in 32bit (not carrying 64bit architecture). but 64bit is only really for people with stupidly powerful machines, and with machines that pwoerful you probably wouldn't care, unless you wanted loading/processing times to drop slightly

I'm actually quite happy with iTunes 9, no issues at all so far and iTunes 8 had few. iTunes 9 also is faster at least for me. Ir starts almost instantly and works well. iTunes would see benefits from going Cocoa + 64 bit.

Just start Activity Monitor and look for kernel_task if it's 64 bit so Mac OS X is in 64 bit mode.
