I'm rather excited bout the next release. I got onto leopard when it was at .4 release n was quite solid for the most part. .3 on SL should get us all a step closer to that. Not that .2 is bad, just iTunes really but that's blooat n we all know it. Lol

I'd like for the update to fix copying to an NTFS formatted hard drive. It's getting rather annoying that I can't copy some important files to my flash drive because of this. Also, another persistent issue I've experienced is the self-assigned IP address one.

What do you mean that Apple doesn't officially support the 2D Dock? What happens when you put your Dock on the side of your screen?... for me, it goes 2D by default. It's a Dock feature and it hasn't changed since Leopard was released. So how do you figure that Apple doesn't officially support it?

Ditto here...I have no idea what these people talk about sometimes; I wish I could smoke the same thing they do to get so high.

Snow Leopard is fairly stable for me on the 3 computers at the house. I only have 2 real issues.

  • The Mac Pro audio bug on my 09 model.
  • Safari seems to crash often when looking at RSS feeds.

Snow Leopard has been fine on my MacBook since it's first release, except some minor app compatibility problems to begin with.

I just wish Apple would allow me the following things:

- Option for the old style Expose, I prefer the bigger previews, I used to use it for looking at several programs at once, especially when ReWireing. The new expose makes this impossible.

- Option to disable the Dashboard. I know it can be done via command line, and I have disabled it, but Apple should support it in it's system preferences. I never use dashboard and it's pointless me having 20mb of my ram taken for nothing.

- Option to have a 2d dock. I'm sorry but I like my OS resources as low as possible. I couldn't care less about the looks.

I just want iTunes 10 with gestures, i always end up moving the damn playbar when trying to skip.

And Quicklook for Stacks would be nice.

Unfortunately, unless Apple decides to awesomely surprise us, we're going to have to wait until September for such an update.

Personally, I wish Apple was pursuing making Quicktime X more feature complete at a more aggressive pace. For example, I would love to see hardware acceleration get spread beyond the h.264 support, as well as adding compatibility to play more than a couple file types natively. I'm hoping this update's "compatibility" component for Quicktime X is taking the first step, in that regard.

IPhoto fix (I hope)

I sure hope this update fixes the problem with IPhoto's full screen editing and slide show for photos that have been modified (sharpened. etc). Screen goes green or red when trying to view these pictures, Seems to effect only the older Intel Imacs wit the RadeonX1600 graphics card.

Sorry I thought you meant 2D dock on bottom.

If you want writing support for NTFS then grab a copy of:

http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/

Which will do the trick.

I actually do have that and it still won't work!

I've seen many others with this problem on the Apple discussion boards and no one seems to have a genuine solution to this ongoing problem. I'm pretty sure it might have something to do with Apple having re-written Finder entirely. My confidence in the company has been slipping lately... :(

Try the Tuxera NTFS 2010.1 trial. Tuxera has NTFS-3G as its base code with improvements. Its not free though. I use it, I reckon its faster than the Pure NTFS-3G driver.

Uninstall NTFS-3g First.

And have you upgraded to the latest version? (2010.1) I've been running it on 10.6.2 without a single flaw - the performance is crap but it does work; what errors occur? if you want help it is best to prove some information.

What grainy top sites animation? If Apple doesn't know about a certain bug, how are they supposed to fix it? I'm assuming you told them about the bugs you're experiencing right? I'm also assuming that you've tried to troubleshoot the bug yourself by using other Macs and seeing if it affects all Macs or just your machine. Just because you experience a certain bug, doesn't mean everyone does or that Apple even knows about it.

I have this bug, have reported it, and Apple has acknowledged it.

10.6.2 was definitely a "jump over". I had to roll 5 machines back to 10.6.1 due to heat issues and 30-40% performance drops. My Macbook Pro, for example, used to handle Logic Pro at a respectable level but now I cannot even play more than 5 seconds of the demo song before it overloads the CPU. So it was back to 10.6.1.

This couldn't come soon enough.
