If they preview Mac OS X at WWDC, it's usually 9-12 months before they release it to the general public.

Thus, we're probably looking at a Spring or Summer 2012 release date of OS X 10.7 at the earliest.

Thanks to integration between IOS and Mac OS I think we will see a preview of 10.7 in Jan. 2011 when Apple shows off IOS 5.0. Devs will get a copy then and it will be released at WWDC in June 2011.

You really think they are going to merge iOS and OS X? Possibly the iPad will be the first implimentation of it. The current iPhoney version on the iPad is holding the platform back currently (like that hurt it though)

I just feel the iPad could go much further than it has towards an OS X like experience.

Where did all of this crap about the currently non-existant OS 10.7 come from, I thought this was about 10.6.5?

Anyway, my one wish for this update would be a genuine complete implementation of OpenGL 3.0. Apple is almost there--if they would finally include the GLSL 1.3 API, I think Mac OS would at long last support OGL 3.0. Valve recently mentioned that while the latest GPU driver update helped a bit, full GLSL 1.3 support would be required to bring Source-engine quality up to parity with the Windows renderer. Not that I play any games on Mac OS (that's what Boot Camp is for), but it would be nice to have a somewhat modern OpenGL stack.

As of Build 10H525, there is no further change to OGL.

Not a chance. They'll probably announce it at WWDC, but even then it'll be a while before it's actually release. I'd wager somewhere between mid-summer 2011 to the end of 2011.

Hmmm, IDK. Based on the rumblings I've been hearing, Apple has been working on 10.7 for a while now (MacRumors posted a front page thread about a new 10.7 build showing up online, I'll dig for it after I post this).

In the past, Apple has seeded developers beta releases early on for new 10.X increments. However, with Apple's increased secrecy, I have the sense that 10.7 is in full force, and we may see developer seeds as soon as late Fall. I believe 10.x.7-8 builds usually time with beta releases and sometimes the GM release. With 10.6.5 beta's increasing releases, 10.6.6 isn't far off, followed by 10.6.7 by the Holidays I'm certain.

UPDATE:
Nov 2009 MacRumors thread:
Apple Already Working on Mac OS X 10.7 Development?

Less than three months after the launch of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, evidence has surfaced that Apple is already working on the next version of OS X, presumably to designated Mac OS X 10.7. The information comes from an entry posted earlier today in a database of changes to the open source "launchd" framework, which oversees booting of Mac OS X and administers processes running on the system. In particular, today's entry cites an error message containing the text string "11A47", a reference to the Mac OS X build number being used.

If this OS build truly has "no known issues", it would be the first OS from any company in the history of computing to ship with such a claim.

I suspect what the unnamed source meant was "no known show-stoppers", which is of course a very, very different thing.

"No Known Issues" is Applespeak for no bug that affects ALL Macs.
