Wish they'd work on Safari. I've never seen such a crash-crazy program in my life.

I use the Webkit nightlies, which are faster and more stable than the release Safari - with the exception of the oddball build that will be very unstable (and quickly replaced).

Interestingly, the build frequency has slowed down considerably since the holidays ... making me wonder whether a new version of Safari/Webkit is coming soon.

I build from Source on Linux and OS X.

All heavy lifting, across the board, has moved WebKit into Source->WebKit along side Source->WebKit2

WebKit is now legacy getting it's target goals for HTML 5 and CSS 3/SVG1.2,MathML continued.

WebKit 2 is getting a huge lift of work from all ports. It's clear that Google is dropping their process model in favor of Apple's improved WebKit2 process model.

Performance should be considerably improved when WebKit2 is the default in the Nightly builds.

Which probably won't be until Lion, I figure. Or at least around then, I would speculate.

Graphics

Still nice to see they are finally taking Graphic drivers seriously, dunno why this update will bring, but I hope that gaming performance will keep increasing, because still there many things to fix/improve... just look at SC2 performance..now is better than when it was released, but still not close when booting on Win.. Win drivers still kick ass OS X. (not taking into account one is Dx, the other one is openGL).

Why soooooo soon ?? Because Mac OS X 10.6.6 really slows down my MBP. Cannot open a Safari webpage without a 1 minute beachball. Seems to be only pages containing flash content.... Really hope this update addresses that issue owise going back to 10.6.5

:apple:Dal

Safari is stable I think, especially considering that I use it frequently every day. I can't remember last time it crashed, but looking at the logs the last crash I had was in 2009 for Safari 4.0.1 and (not surprisingly) due to the Flash plug-in.

No, if you have frequent crashes in Safari it's probably due to something else than Safari itself.

Graphics

If you look in the "video community" you will notice that there has been quite some discussions about stuttering HD video lately. This has been seen on all machines running OSX regardless of the techspecs, and seem to have started with the 1.6.4 release.

I really hope Apple is finally looking into this since it has gotten worse with every update since 1.6.4. Having a new Mac mini, Macbook Pro etc. not being able to play 1080p isn't very elegant.

I'm hoping that the graphics drivers address issues with World Of Warcraft performance on the ATI HD 4850. I opened a thread about that to try and determine why my 27" Core i7 iMac with 8GB RAM was getting around 17fps and it was due to a problem with the drivers. If I turn off the Sunshafts option then I'm running at 60+fps at maximum resolution and everything else turned up but no more pretty water effects. Fingers crossed...

Personally speaking, since the upgrade to 10.6 and the sandboxing of Flash, I've not seen Safari crash on me once. Prior to that release I would have agreed with you but since then I consider Safari to be exceedingly stable.

I'm thinking of buying an 27" iMac for iOS development, but I'm also really interested in using it for World of Warcraft. 17-20fps on a $2k+ machine is really not that good. Please let us know Kelmon how 10.6.7 addresses the WoW performance when it's released. *fingers and toes crossed*

Really, I have had just problems with Safari since Snow Leopard, never Leopard. Lots of crashes, graphics problems (pull a tab to become a window gives me lots of problems), open a new tab (that opens as Top Sites) shows graphics issues. Constant freezes are frequent. Never had issues under Leopard or earlier.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I hope 10.6.7 brings some overhauled video drivers. The current ones don't compete with what anything on Windows can do for the same exact hardware.

The overlords don't want 1080p

The Apple Overlords have said that 720p is the be-all and end-all of video.

No need for 1080p support.

No such file

Can someone who has access to this build do me a favour, and see if there is a frame buffer included for HD6xxx cards?

Just look under System/Library/Extensions for filename "ATI6000Controller.kext"

thank you!
No such file... ATI5000 is the highest number.

I like the bit about graphics drivers.

I'd like to be able to play Steam games at the same quality and performance level under OS X as I can under Windows/Bootcamp.

Hi,

is there evidence that 10.6.7 contains new graphic drivers? Did anyone already run some benchmarks with the beta?

Chris

Ive got to ask, what sites is it crashing on frequently? I've had mine crash probably less than 5 times in total, and that was before I installed click2flash. Not a single crash since then.

Dear Apple Devs,

FIX THE FREAKING FONT TYPE/SPACING ISSUE ON THE HELP MENU FOR GOD SAKES!!!!

Or are you merely waiting until OS X is no longer supported and we're all running iOS (likely).

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Every update I hope in vain for an update to OpenGL or at least better graphics drivers. The 9400M under OS X is relatively crippled vs the OpenGL 3.2 and DX10 it can use under Windows.
