Anyone else noticed that in the new Sys Preferences icon for Keyboard&mouse, the Command key is now missing the Apple :apple:, like it does on the new keyboard?

Just a little catch :)

I like that they've updated the sys pref icons, like Displays, etc... It's just a little thing, but... considering M$ is using some icons back since Windows 3.11 :D

I noticed that too! Glad to know someone else is as observant as me!

Can someone send me that new Space background that is in the latest build?
Or at least link me to where I can get it?

I like that a lot!

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:
SCRATCH THAT!!!! I just took another look at UPDATE #2. duh.

Will the argument over the dock ever cease?

As a member said on here once before, "Don't knock it before you use it."

This is a matter of style. There are so many styles that you may like that someone else will not. Which means the reverse should be true. There probably is no one style that everyone will like. For that reason these points of style would work out best if we had choices to make them look & feel as we want them to.

The above reason is why we have so many system changing utilities. Some of us still want our Macs to be a personal statement of US & not of the Apple designers. This is true even though the Apple designers do a better job than the ones at MS.

Pardon my arrogance, but that reflection in the dock will not always be true for all icons, especially that designed in a tilted perspective.
Talking about candy, stacks resembles a wonka bar imo.

Besides a stupid looking oversized bulging Dock, which one still cant permanently hide an reactivate it only when needed (and to think Apple actually listened to those people spoofing over that crap Solaris Glass interface) and whoopy do dar Spaces and coverflow view, there is nothing of particular interest in Leopard as far as im concerned. There is no Resolution Independence and no Quartz 2D Extreme and basically no GPU acceleration of any other kind including MPEG (variants) of video. No ability to save and reload a session on login from a last logged session like Linux. No ZFS, no ability to change system font types an sizes, absolutely no significant improvement to the Dumb POS Finder which everyone HATES, no change to Open/Save Dialogs which most ppl HATE and find completely useless.

You are factually wrong on much of what you say doesn't exist in Leopard. And I bet you've used it too so you know what you're talking about, right? </Sarcasm>

Those window close, maximize, minimize buttons looks oversaturated or somehow way too bright.

I think the overall UI is a mix of good (less UI variants) with bad (more gaudy stuff for no apparent reason). Won't take long to get a modder to fix it :)

Apple isn't going to make it super-easy for the end-user to completely redo the default interface elements and graphics. Not only would the typical end-user never need to do something like this, but Apple doesn't want people creating very poorly designed user interfaces on a wide scale and presenting them as Mac OS X. Now, of course, on a smaller scale of usage there are many packages out there there that make it easy to customize your user interface. Its not like Apple is actively preventing user interface changes from occurring. My bet is that they just want to leave the design work up to those with enough technical know-how to actually package it all together in a working installation system.

wrong, this build can update from 499, or the update pushed to software update.

note from the seednote (found on the net):
If you choose to migrate or perform an Archive and Install over an earlier Leopard system, your user-installed applications may not be copied to the new system.

So it will work this time minus - user-installed applications.

BUT if you don't know the answer to the question, then YOU will be breaking the law by installing it, since you are not an ADC member.

An ADC member would have access to this information first then when you log in it says it ;-)

From what I gathered, no.

Wow, I like the intro video and new background! Really cool, Leopard is looking like a great release. :)

Hmmm, I know I don't hold the most popular opinion, but I rather liked the more transparent menu bar. As someone who uses Photoshop, etc. a great deal, the transparency of the menu bar was less distracting and gave the appearance of more screen real estate, without taking away the functionality of the menu bar itself.

Apple and Jobs need to get over the OCD with the OS and open up some of the configuration options to the individual user, such as menu bar transparency/opacity, color schemes, etc. It's be nice to have a third party program such as Windows Shade or such be integrated into Leopard...

Well I for one sure do agree with you. This dock doesn't seem transparent but has a nice reflection. Was looking at the anemone background picture and thought no way but after looking at it in the large size I think it will be the one with all the black it won't be distracting. IMHO

I am so loving the transparent bar and new dock. Most beautiful looking desktop ever.
The menu bar looks horrible without rounded corners. They need to change that badly. The smaller rounded corners on windows looks bad too. If they were to change those two things (the menu bar being the most important) I'd actually like it somewhat.

Address book can already (in tiger) send/receive texts and see who is calling on screen using a compatible bluetooth phone. (works on my nokia and on my previous sony ericssons). I'm not sure if it works with the iphone (no iphone in aus) but i cant imagine why they would leave it out!

Not what I meant. e.g. try answering your mobile phone using your Mac.

Wow. Nitpicking at its finest.

Some of us seriously need to get some sleep, don't ya think?

I'll take my vertical tear off windows I had in Openstep and no top menu bar to work with any day of the week. It gives me more real estate and with stored states I can have my tear offs where I want them to work on the document.

If it's up on YouTube, just go to YouTube, play it, then in Safari go to Window-->activity. Find the Youtube section. Now look through the list of files until you find the biggest one. this is 99 times out of 100 the movie. Double click and it will download. Now find the file, and rename it to whatever you want with an *.flv extension. Now it will play in VLC (and maybe Quicktime, not sure).
i got it to download but no matter what file extension i give it, it tells me it is not a movie file, and when it opens flash nothing happens, it is just a white screen.
So is there any other way to get it?
