thank you for being the first of several to reply with actual useful information.

no leather huh? i suppose no felt either...

that might be a reason to consider it.

My personal reasons are:
  • Removed the skeuomorphic design elements
  • improved battery life (timer coalescing, improved HD playback).
  • Native OS filesystem Tags
  • icloud keychain

pretty crazy on Apple's part.

I think they have borrowed this craziness from microsoft.

Remember the windows 7 beta desktop picture?

It had the betta fish blowing 7 bubbles:

Public release might be sooner than you think. Adobe posted a while ago an update for After Effects CS6 so that it runs on Mavericks. I grabbed a screenshot from their Facebook page.

i'm sorry if i'm not gagging in anticipation. what can i say, ML works fine for me, does everything i want it to do and i haven't seen or read anything about 10.9 that would make it worth my while, or my money.

Looks like my point passed right over you. If you haven't tried it, don't judge, and that means reading or seeing without actually using it. Comprende? Good.

I can't WAIT!!!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEAAASE
IVES AND COOK LISTEN UP!!!!

I can't wait any longer for Mavericks!!!

Please give me flat everything, stuff moving everywhere with wacky-clown colors!!! that make no sense. . . . :p:p:p:p:p

Just like WINDOWS IN SAFE MODE :):):):):)

AppleSeed member here and I'm not getting anything in the App Store.

You should have gotten an email that has the App Store redemption link, once you click on that it takes you to the Appleseed page to sign in and there's another link there that you redeem that takes you to the App Store and it starts downloading the 5+ GB file automatically.

I imagine that Mavericks is really just a stop-gap for the time being, with regards to U.I design. It's inevitable that Apple will release an iOS 7 inspired successor next year, and providing the changes are carefully tuned, then I for one can't wait.

You may very well be correct in that assumption. An even though right now I can't imagine that to be a satisfactory experience on desktops, I trust Apple to do this right, or not do it at all.

You might say I'm not a nay-sayer, but I'm holding my breath though.

i said i dont anticipate getting it. "not excited" were the words i used.
i didnt say it was garbage.

had i said i'll be getting it the minute it releases even without trying it count as judging as well?

y si, comprendo que no entendés un carajo de lo que quise decir. o no querés entender ;)

I wonder if they fixed the finder issue in mountain lion

Snow Leopard was the best ever and still is.

You have to admit 10.9 has shaped out to be an overdue focus on power and stability.

- OpenGL 4.0+ Support (Finally!) - most likely due to the AMD FirePro graphics in the new Mac Pro pushing OpenGL dependency

- Multiple Displays - Always used at least 2 with my Mac Pro, we (editors, designer, professionals) have needed this addressed for a while (GREAT to have the Dock appear on the active display and the MenuBar across all)

- Improved Memory Management

- Wireless Protocol(s) Improvement(s)

- Better Enterprise Support (and other accounts)

- iCloud Features:
- Keychain Syncing returns(ed)
- Document "DropBox" syncing seems on the horizon once everything is released
- Photosharing and Streaming improvements
- iWork for iCloud revamped for cross platform support

- Maps - Send directions in OS X via email/MMS to friends/family on the road

- Time Machine - Improved data purging, addressing occasional "backup disk full" errors

There's quite a bit more.I would consider 10.9 to be the "Snow Leopard" for both 10.7 and 10.8. Now just combine FaceTime and Messages into one app, and bring back the 10.5 Leopard beta iChat "Answering Machine" feature into Messages for video away messages (and a new Mac Pro) :)

have you seen game center?

It burns my eyes

The send to iPhone feature for maps means I don't have to walk to the station to meet friends any more! YAY

i'm wondering with some of the new under the hood inclusions and more support for MDM and whatnot if OS X Server will be an element of Mavericks instead of a separate app perse and it will be an all-in-one type OS.

AppleSeed member here and I'm not getting anything in the App Store.

The email said to check the AppleSeed forums (which are still down) for update info. Looks like probably a new redemption code, I assume it's a full installer this time.

Anyone able to download and install it?

As I understand it, this seed is slightly different than what us developers have received. Anyone report on the differences, if any?

Funny, as a registered OS X and iOS Developer I received two AppleSeed invites for OS X 10.9.

Did the devs get a different build number? Up until now both groups have got all the same builds, just sometimes a slight delay between the two.

One thing for sure with me is, Im going to wait for reviews to come in on maverick before I upgrade, Im not happy with ios 7 so I am going to be very suspicious before I upgrade anything from here on in.

Why should I upgrade to Mavericks?

Just trying to understand why I should upgrade to Mavericks. As far as I can see, Finder with tabs is interesting but beyond that, why would someone upgrade? What, in your opinion, are top 3 - 5 reasons to consider this upgrade?

Not trolling or looking for flames, just people's opinions on why or why not to upgrade from 10.8.4?

thanks!

Oh man, I almost forgot about that. Even when I stopped using W7 Beta, I still liked having that as my background. I may need to set that as my desktop at work for old time's sake.
