I'm downloading too, maybe an update to overcome the Golden Master new build issue. (keep thumbs crossed)

It installed automatically… and I don't see any difference. How should I know if I have been updated to the new build? Edit: i'm still at 13A598… what was that? lol

It's so strange… I just restarted my mac, still not in the new build, BUT when I opened Safari it automatically asked me about push notificacions from macrumors, which had not happened before. Maybe they have updated the 13A598 and will have paralel builds updates in the future?

Try again to instal mavericks from app store, check again

I have the original GM installed. How'd you get the update? Cause every time i click on the download…it does nothing. I've already got rid of the original gm's installer. Shouldn't it download like it should when you click it?

Have you got a spinning wheel top left near the back / forward arrows? Mine's been spinning for the past 3 hours, I can only assume it's Mavericks downloading in the background. Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah i do! btw i also got the developer update but when i click on it, it just goes and it just says installed. I wonder if it's just the servers getting hammered or something. or it needs the dev's apple i.d.?

apple policy :)

just search a little, and you can find a sollution (mod the installer)

Yes, but it will only run in 32 bit on a 2006 (2,1) I believe. It's a hardware limitation of this machine. The EFI built into the board is 32bit. It's a shame too, because the CPU's are 64bit and more than capable for the tasks I require. I use it mainly for audio recording and wanted step up to 64bit recording. This would be the only reason for me to upgrade. I'm throwing it on my laptop just to give it a spin though.

I'm confused by your statement. I installed Mavericks GM on my Mac Pro 1,1 with 11 Gb RAM without any trouble. This unsupported computer works just fine.

With a modded boot loader and running 32bit yes. I would want to take advantage of 64bit capabilities or else it wouldn't be worth it for me on my audio workstation. The EFI on the board is 32bit. It will never run in 64. I'll sell this and just look for a used 3,1 MP

I had GM1, and after install the public release from App Store, and follow the install process (automatic) im still on 13A598.

Any suggestions?

Same issue. Going to wait for 10.9.1 to see if it installs over the original GM seed. Everything seems to be working fine (including apps from the App store that require 10.)

Make sure you don't have the previous installer anywhere on your hard drives, it looks to see if it's there when it checks for the download.

I am still on the original GM seed as well. All my Ilife and Iwork apps updated last night. Everything is working as it should. I will wait to see if 10.9.1 Changes the build as well. No need to stress.

Also had the Mavericks recovery update as well last night.

This isn't recommended. You're probably leaving behind a whole lot of crud and broken code because you're using an unofficial, untested upgrade path. And I am sure this will degrade your Mavericks experience. Until Apple releases an official upgrade (they won't), you should absolutely be preparing to do a clean install and starting again.

You took a gamble Apple wouldn't release a fresh GM build before releasing to the public, and you lost. My advice is don't take shortcuts now and degrade your experience.

Not sure how you made the conclusion. Did you check the upgraded binaries manually? Or just put up the theory based on assumptions?

I'm a Mac OS developer since 2007. So far, have installed pretty lot of DPs and GMs on various Mac models (my first purchase was a white MacBook) and upgrade has been my choice. I never even needed to repair permissions.

I Downloaded and instaled the "Mac Developer Update",

Then I Downloaded (click continue) Mavericks from Appstore, then after the download ended I just run the installer and about 40 min later (i'm on a cMbp L11) Mavericks is ready with the latest build 13A603, no issues, no tricks.

Chameleon is a 64-bit boot loader. This allows Mavericks to run the 64-bit kernel. It runs on 64 bits, not 32.

My mistake... I thought I read something about that amongst the 64bit MP 1,1 hack posts
So, assuming I try this and get Mavericks installed, what happens when you need to update the OS? Will a flashed Radeon HD 4870 work btw?

Also, do you have a link for the best tutorial on how to do this? Thanks

I'm not sure about the 4870. Mine is an ATI Radeon HD 5770 bought from Apple. As for updating, there's nothing to it (such as updating to 10.9.1, 10.9.2, etc.). When 10.10 comes out, it'll probably require repeating a tailored procedure, such as the one required to install ML or Mavericks on old hardware like a Mac Pro 1,1.
