Can i just ask that whoever writes these updates not include all the info on IOS 12 and djust write what the update includes. I think we get the gist of what’s included and just scroll down to the update part.

Saves a lot of time. If we wanted to know what’s iOS 12, we’re smart enough to know to look on your site for it.

Plus almost all of us know what it is too.

I’m so glad they are doing more betas for iOS as they are finally listening & getting it ready for prime time. I feel that using iOS betas for the last couple of years that this has been the best.

False.

The FaceID sensor on my X went bad a few weeks ago while I was running the iOS 12 beta 6 and the Apple store had absolutely no issue replacing the phone. And as an iPhone owner of every generation going back to 2009.. this isn't the first time I've had them replace or repair an iPhone running an iOS beta.

While Apple might state in their disclaimer that running the beta may cause warranty, repair or replacement issues.. reality is this is just legal speak. Their genius bar staff is more than willing to warranty, repair or replace any iPhone as long as the warranty coverage period has not expired. You dont even have to ask them nicely to do it.

Try getting phone support with a beta installed, software or hardware.

After last year's disastrous 11 release, I don't think I'll update before iOS 12.2 has rolled out.
I have this on my iPhone X the only issue I had was on beta 7 everything was working fine before & now after it is the best beta I have used.

Again, the Bluetooth indicator is gone on my 5S. Made -again- a feedback. Does anyone have the same?

I had MAJOR bluetooth issues on Beta 7. I could watch the connection symbols on my car's head unit drop and return randomly. Beta 8 fixed that so I am hopeful that they did not break it again in Beta 9.

This is my first time ever trying a Public Beta. Why am I only offered (and have installed) Beta 7 instead of Beta 9?

Beta 9 is the developer beta number. Public betas are versioned independently and normally run 1 version behind the developer beta number (but are the same actual software build) as public betas don't usually start until developer beta 2, therefore public beta 1 = developer beta 2 etc.

The public beta version number is now 2 behind as developer beta 7 got pulled last week without a public beta so public beta 6 was then released alongside developer beta 8, and so public beta 7 is developer beta 9.

I think I gotcha.

My X is on beta 6 and kept showing beta 7 for the past day. Can't I just go from 6 to 9? Or must I go through the dreaded 7 first? I have tried delete the update file, delete beta profile, reboot, reinstall beta profile, but still shows beta 7 as latest.

Update: Never mind, public beta 7 = dev beta 9. Thanks.

I just noticed mine isn’t on the top. On an iPhone 8. Is this normal though? The only thing it’s connected to is my Apple Watch. I don’t have any other Bluetooth devices handy to check.

battery life has almost doubled for me, something has changed. Same day to day use has me burning 30% as opposed to 50%. Maybe background diagnostics are winding down. Or maybe i'm an anomaly.
Hard to say. Some have reported poor battery life with certain betas, maybe your increased battery life is connected with a bug fix. Haven’t seen a lot of posts about battery life though.

Mine has been terrible so far on Beta 9 (6s Plus), c'mon Sept!

I don’t understand many mobile OSes UX/UI. Take iOS for example, why is the web browser address bar at the top like a desktop OS browser, it should be placed at the bottom closer to your thumb/finger(s). The zoom in/out and compass direction on Apple Maps, why is this not placed at the bottom of the screen. Why does it feel that these mobile OS makers are forcing me to exercise my thumb/finger(s) and then produce “solution” such as reachability. Even to view Control Centre on iPhone X at the top right makes a users to needlessly reach to the top of the screen, while a swipe down to active reachability. How about a swipe down at the bottom of the screen brings up Control Centre. If Ives is designing this UX/UI then he has lost the concept of form and function for design.

I don’t use a phone to exercise my thumb/finger(s), fix this stupidity mobile OS developers. I see Google in Android Pie has relocated the search bar to the bottom, at least their get it. Now make this universal. Basically using desktop OS methods of navigation on a mobile OS. Might as well add mouse support since you are still sticking to the desktop OS design language.

OMG! Finally someone understands this. I cannot for the life of me understand why this trillion dollar company cannot figure this out. It’s so obvious. I mean it’s bad enough with the X. Imagine the X plus. This is why I could never use any of the “plus” models.

It’s so obvious that these things need to be on the bottom. Does anyone do any testing of this stuff? Apparently they have the tech to identify users by how they touch the screen. All this high tech heuristic analysis and they haven’t figured out that users don’t have 6” fingers. Nobody wants to reach up that high and lose grip over the physical device. 10+ years of making this OS and they still haven’t figured this out.

About control center or even notifications should I have to pull out my second hand to reach it? There can be gestures right at the bottom for that. This is why I never use the Notification Center. Who has time to reach that top left corner? Might as well disable it. As for control center we have no choice so I will pull out a second hand to use it. But it’s just stupid design. Supposed experts on UI these people. Just get someone with half the common sense of a street moron and you’d get a more usable design than that.

Why would you want static elements at the bottom, where it's easiest to swipe and interact with the page? I scroll using the area near the bottom, and they have many of the quick options towards the bottom. Opening maps, I use the bottom half of the screen to move the map around, double tapping where needed. If you had buttons there, it would remove some valuable interaction space for a part of the UI that is used much less frequently.

Yes near the bottom. But not at the bottom. At the bottom is where the address bar and other highly used interface elements need to be.

They had me restore to a final release (11.4) and then when the Face ID didn’t work they replaced the phone. It proved that it was hardware. They didn’t just replace it without checking it on a released OS version.
