Apple's pattern of seeding new builds of Mac OS X 10.5.7 to developers each weekend continues, with Build 9J39 making its way out this weekend. World of Apple publishes the seed notes, which reveal only five documented changes since the previous seed.
This build in partcular fixes issues Mail signatures, System Profiler having problems with DisplayPort adapters and several other issues.

As with previous builds the inability to install Safari 4 Beta is the only remaining issue.
Apple has also added Safari to the list of "general focus areas" upon which developers are asked to concentrate their testing.

Not being able to install the Safari 4 beta seems to be a big show stopper to me.

I'm quite sure Safari 4 compatibility has been tested internally for months now. I doubt that we'll see it released before developers get a build with compatibility though, so I reckon at least another few weeks before general release. :(

I would hazard a guess regarding the non install of Safari 4 is that its a version checker in Safari looking for 10.5.6 and the security update, because it will not install without the later ( in 10.5.6 )

so maybe its not 10.5.7 thats the problem but the version of safari 4 beta that we have

That would be my guess as well. The problem is almost certainly in Safari, not OS X.

Cute but they better be adressing the networking issues on early 2008 MBP.

The title says it all, I'm getting more that a bit frustrated with the networking issues on my early 2008 MBP. Sad but I'm begining to think it is time for a class action suit, as my machine has actually gotten worst with each update. I now have the Mac scanning on what where previously reliable hot spots.

I'm not one to normally get wound up over minor defects in a product as nothing is perfect. This has really degenerated into something that doesn't even work properly Since reports are still wide spread on Apples forms I don't think it is a hardware issue.

Finally, a topic besides the Windows ad campaign. ;)

So the only known issue is Safari 4.0 Beta not playing well with 10.5.7. I'm surprised this is still an issue given Apple's recent promotion of Safari 4.0. It would be nice to see this update on or around Tuesday.

I was excited to see the fix with Mail Signatures, until I read the details. The signatures still appearing below the replied text, even though we have checked the box to put the signature above the quoted text is really frustrating. I spend hours moving over my mail from Entourage to Mail and then have to revert since I use signatures on most of my emails.

One very annoying problem I have..

I know this is not a bug; Well at least part is..

I'm sure I am one of many people who have a gmail address and a mac. And while both companies are on the cutting edge in their respective fields I have this reoccurring problem; Where, when I send an email in any fashion from my gmail account i get a exact copy in my inbox in mail.app. While i had this problem on my Blackberry, It was a simple fix. Similar to rules built into mail.

The problem with mail is that the rules simply dont work for me; Not only do they not work they do really screwy things, Like moving mail that had nothing to do with the rules the the absolute wrong folders. This should be a really simple fix or preferably it should just be built into the next build of mail, where mail.app just knows how to handle gmail accounts... Please apple make it play nice!

P.s. I've used the corrected "rules" as well as different configurations; I'm not stupid and did the research to no avail.

Well, I've been accessing my GMail account in Mail ever since Google enabled IMAP support, and like what seems to be the vast majority of people out there (otherwise this wouldn't be the first time I've heard of this happening), I'm not seeing this.

Are you sure you don't have Mail set up to copy you on outgoing messages (Mail Preferences -> Composing)?
