Server2003. I'll ask about enabling any feature that makes it work better with macs but I'd assumed these were already in place. Worked fine before 10.7.2. Thanks though.

With Windows 2003 AFP support is not installed by default - you have to manually install it. Another option could be to export the shares via NFS and have a script running at login time to auto mount the share as the end user logins.

Long term solution could be implementing iFolder Server on the Server then deploying iFolder clients on Mac OS X and Windows (it also supports Linux too).

I'm told reptiles taste like chicken.:D

In fact, snake, frog legs, and just about everything else that that slithers, crawls, or hops is supposed to taste like chicken.

Coincidence...I don't think so!

(OMG - where is this insanity going...:p)

EDIT: This is so far off topic, it's not even on the same planet. Got caught up in my own stupidity. Apologies to all...

Yum, chicken. Fried chicken is nice. Chicken nuggets are okay I guess. :D:D

Why are all of Apples updates SO huge? are they actually updating that many files in each and every build?

----------

Most games don't use custom engines, but buy them from Crytek / id Software / Unreal Technologies / Unity. Let those companies announce engines based on OGL 4, and then let Apple divert resources to this, shall we?

You're missing the point, almost everything is done in Directx anyway, so Apple will have to put in OpenGL 4.x in order for any company to even consider supporting it. the hardware supports it, how difficult would it be to update the drivers and add a few frameworks?

11D42 x 11D46

Well,

Apparently two fixes stopped working on 11D46:

- SmartCard: after inserting a smartcard, System Preferences is not able to be unlocked. That was fixed in 42D and the bug returned with 46D;

- File Sharing: also came back to stop working out of nowhere. Disable and re-enable the SMB fixes, but it was working correctly in 42D. The bug is back on 46D.

Too bad I can't go back to 42D.

I would like to post "SOON."

But I don't think it'll be too soon. Hopefully this week though.

People said the same thing about GL 3.0... When we got it.. The target all of a sudden moved to 4.

Heck, 'Rage', uses Opengl 3.2. And we still don't have that game on OSX yet.
Technical limitations are at the bottom of the list of reasons why we don't have a lot of games on OSX.

Don't smite me or anything, but maybe it's the market share of Mac OS?

Quite possibly!

I'd argue that a critique of your critique is that the argument against more resources isn't the marketshare per say but the marketshare of that marketshare that are dedicated gamers. If for example 10% of the market are Mac users but 50% of that market was hard core gamers then you'd find a greater willingness to dedicate more resources. The reality is that the number of really hardcore gamers are a small group with the hardcore PC gaming market only being viable because the market is so huge that even if only 5% of the over all Windows market are hardcore gamers that is still a massive number of users you can target.

A very good way to put it.

Changes in 10.7.3

Hey all,

Thought I'd join to post this link I saw on a German site (macnotes) which has a link to another site (thetokyoblonde) that says there's a couple of changes in 10.7.3. Hope you find it interesting.

Here's a summary (the site has pictures):

New hand cursor.
Safari bookmarks bar items have wider spacing.
Apps don't quite as fast as they do when in the background as they do now.

Cheers
