Yeah I've noticed when saving files to the desktop, sometimes they don't appear right away (even though being fully copied or downloaded). I've also seen the same thing happen in general folders as well.

Two issues I have (new 2013 rMBP), hoping for fixes in 10.9.1:

  • Finder being very slow on first load. Window opens but you don't see any files in the folders for 20+ seconds.
  • Sleep/Wake failure issue where the Macbook will restart due to failing to wake

I know these issues affect more than just new rMBP's so they're both Mavericks bugs.
Strange - I've also been experiencing that first issue, where I'll open a Finder window (to my Documents folder, or some other local spot) and it will spin for 15-20 seconds before anything appears. It's like it's loading a network drive, but it's local. I thought my hard drive was having issues.

Anyone else want iOS 7 style fonts and icons in OSX? It doesn't have to be a major redesign, just some minor changes to make the two interfaces more consistent.

If they did that, I'd be terrified they'd take a leaf out of the 5c's book and bring back the clamshell G3 iBook.

*cut to Jony Ive talking about how innovative a handle is*

Oh and any chance you can get my Corel Painter 12 to work since Mavericks please, at the moment I'm looking at having to upgrade to Painter X3 ..

What problem are you having? I haven't had any issues with Painter 12. I'm surprised of course, it's usually a bug ridden mess.

1) The trackpad forward/backward swipe gestures don't work (before anyone asks, yes, the settings have been enabled and double-checked.) They work fine in Safari, but not in Finder (they used to in ALL previous versions of OS X).

2) Quick Look bug: In previous versions of OS X, when opening a picture folder and selecting an image, hitting space bar to open it in Quick Look, and then stretching the Quick Look window would in turn stretch the image too (if necessary), thus filling up the Quick Look window. Then, when you used the arrow keys to select other images, they too would continue to stretch/fill up the previously stretch Quick Look window. In Mavericks, using the arrow keys to select other images no longer keeps the images stretched in Quick Look.

I experience this "not appearing" issue in the File Browser and it's frustrating. Newly-created files don't always appear. This problem also happened in 10.8, but less so. Finder still has a problem with updating file metadata, such as file size while the file is still downloading. I fully expect in this day and age that the file size could be updated periodically like I've seen it do on other platforms (eeek, Windows).

My rMBP early 2013 does not go to sleep when I close the lid. External monitor connected... That's how I know. It works only using the power button.

I also have this issue - how do you download this thing..

You can download and install the mavericks seed configuration utility from the mac dev center.

This changes your mac app store to see the beta updates.

Then check for downloads in the mac app store and it should appear there. You can then download and install it from there - but be aware that the installer will delete itself after installing - so if you want to keep it, copy it somewhere first before restarting the computer.

Alternatively you can copy the link it creates in your Updates folder, change the file extension to .pkg and then download it through google chrome instead.

Also having problems with files taking a long time to display on first look in Finder.

Thought it was my HDD but good to hear I'm not the only one having problems! :)

But I can't find the "Mavericks Seed Configuration Utility' on the Dev Center.

Looking at the Dev Center forum other people are having the same issue.

Since updating to Mavericks for me it crashes on starting up and then asks to be re-installed which I have done several times and I still can't get the programme to load. So I downloaded the demo of X3 and it works fine, so I don't know whether to upgrade to X3 but €220 is a heck of a lot and I haven't found anything particular impressive in X3 over 12 that makes that kind of cost worthwhile other than the fact it at least works with mavericks for me.

The new stuff on the mac dev center sometimes has trouble showing up in safari.

Google chrome seems to handle it better. Try that instead.

You'll still find your previous iWork applications installed. The new iWork does not _replace_ them, as you suggest here.

Yes but the point remains we wait 4 years for an 'upgrade' and we get a 'downgrade' that works on the web too - yippee.
