How is the Bluetooth audio on the 7/7+ GSM models? Haven't had a chance to update/test yet.

iPhone 7 here.

・The Touch ID seems much better than beta1. I was getting getting many rejects on beta1, even rebooting every few days.

・The "fade to black" thing when opening an app you haven't used in a while is better but still there. I had reduce motion on, so didn't notice any animation lag, but did notice the "fade to black" thing. Seems like it fades to black instead of doing the animation, but then why not with recent apps? Anyway it's getting better ;)

No it doesn't because it will automatically change your File System from HFS+ to APFS seamlessly, more or less the same as with iOS 10.3 and soon others like Apple TV and the iWatch.
I am curious to see how Apple would implement that conversion once APFS is ready for public consumption, especially on macOS. While on iOS, watchOS and tvOS it would be easier since all apps are downloaded via Apple and if you are jailbroken, you are SOL and not supported by Apple anyway. On macOS, however, I would hope that they would do some due diligence to warn end users that their file system is about to be converted and to prompt to run Time Machine backup before proceeding with conversion (or if TM drive is already connected, run backup automatically and then proceed).

Not sure if Apple would mimic Microsoft, who did that twice. First, when Windows 98 came out it introduced FAT32, and when WinXP came out, they made a concerted effort to move as many users as possible to NTFS. In both cases, there was an option during upgrade to convert or leave things as is and convert later using an app or command line. Knowing Apple, they probably won't and will probably just go ahead and convert the file system. If one ends up with any apps that won't work with APFS, Apple will simply tell them to contact vendor(s) for updates or revert to TM backup of earlier version.

After all, having a backup is common sense before any OS upgrade, whether or not it does something major such as changing file system.

Why wouldn't an app work with APFS?

Not for me on beta 1. Or previous. And yes I did a manual check in About. Nothing.

Are you confusing this with the Three InTouch App?

It was supported on release version 10.2 but not 10.3 beta 1, due to beta including a wireless carrier file with a version number higher than the wifi calling enabling one released previously, so the beta ignored the update.

I DFU installed 10.3 B1 and hence I had no heating or random battery drain issues.
That's a common misconception. I've been on a lot of iOS betas over the years and one thing I've noticed is that battery drain bugs will creep in on an upgrade and on a fresh install. I've been just as successful with upgrades that I've basically stopped doing fresh installs and wasting my time. Upgrades are great these days.

Now onto an observation of the upgrade process. This time when installing the beta, the verifying process was seconds compared to iOS 10.2.x. It used to take 10 minutes for it to verify beta installs and now it takes 10 seconds. Yet another reason APFS is fantastic.

APFS. That seems interesting. Wanna know more about it's gonna work with macOS though.

There are lots of apps relying onto file system, such as disk partition app, backup app, and maybe system cleaning app.

Alright. I didn't mean that question any other way than simply not understanding. Thanks for pointing out a couple of things I hadn't thought of.

On Beta 1 when accessing Facebook via Safari, any attempt to open a photo or album sends the browser into a reloading photo loop.

Anyone know if it has been addressed in Beta 2?

I upgraded to this second beta of iOS 10.3 last night, and I've still got a problem understanding how free space is calculated under the new file system: iTunes says I've got 5.2GB free on my 16GB iPhone 6, but a quick look in Settings under General/Informations says otherwise, at 3.6GB.

Why the difference? Does the phone store the whole firmware somewhere, should it need it to restore as a new phone for some reason? If so, it's not a bad idea, but a serious waste of free space anyway.

I too was enthusiastic at first at how much space could be regained by upgrading to iOS 10.3 beta, but now, I'm not so sure...

Beta 2 made app store app crash 6 times in 5 minutes, I used siri dictation to search for my apps.

Having serious battery drain issues on beta 1 on 6S+ -- will randomly run very hot and tick down severely. Hopefully beta 2 more stable.
Beta 1 of 10.3 is the first bets I've ever had that had given me severe battery drain. Before this, I've always been lucky, but I guess it was my turn to take one for the team!

i hope they sort out the mess about icloud settings, they're too many and scattered all over different sub-menus. how's it changed with this beta?
