I looked at this and it just encrypts traffic but doesn’t offer privacy according to all the articles you can quickly find. They offer a Plus plan which…has data limits and you can earn extra data with referrals??? That’s not worth it. Private Relay is something we pay for on iCloud Plus and it can be more awesome.
switch to edge, use secure DNS and select cloudflare

Dev beta 2 won’t boot on my 2020 iMac, though dev beta 1 did. The same external SSD booted successfully on my 2017 15” MBP so I know the install is good. Reported it so hopefully he issue is resolved for next beta. The first Catalina dev beta wouldn’t boot at all from external SSD so not a new issue, unfortunately.

Any idea when the ability to move your mouse to an iPad will be implemented? Not side car, the feature they showed where the mouse would detect your iPad next to your MacBook Pro and allow you to control it.

You wouldn’t need to log in again each time a new Tunnel is created. Your cookie would still hold the log in. It has always been like that since years.
Yeah, but your computer isn’t normally coming from different IP addresses. There are web apps that, rightly, close the connection if they get requests from your credentials from multiple IP addresses regardless of cookie. Because, that’s one of the signs of something malicious going on.

Installing and enabling Wrap by cloudfare on a system is a more all rounded approach to protect privacy than simply enabling DOH with the help of cloudflare’s DNS service.

You don’t need to pay for Wrap+, simply using Wrap is good enough. Actually Apple private relay also relies on Cloudflare’s service to act as one of the relay hops.
More importantly wrap protects your whole system while the current private relay only protects your Safari session.

The full installer is available now. It wasn't yesterday - only OTA back then. But now we can make a bootable usb with this. Note that the command to do it is different to beta 1 (which didn't have the Monterey name in it). The new command is

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Monterey\ beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

beta 2 icon.png

Wasn't expecting lower case b in "beta". Usually it is upper case B. Not sure if it is a mistake. If so the third beta might change the command again to upper case B.

Anyone using this on their primary machine?

Replaced my '14 rMBP for a new M1 MBP, since it's not supported by Monterey. It was getting long in the tooth anyway. Between $210 Amazon Prime Day discount and $240 trade in, $849 not incl tax.

Skipped 12 Beta 1 and went straight to 12 Beta 2.

I am running Monterey B2 on a 2020 13” MPB. It is pretty stable, but I have to use Outlook for work and anytime I attempt to launch Outlook, the icon bounces a couple of times and then the cursor freezes and trackpad becomes a dead piece of glass. Only option from there is to restart. I am using the web based outlook as a workaround. I have a bootable Big Sur TB3 drive if things go too far south.

For anyone still pondering whether to jump in or not, I have it on my backup iPad and Private Relay is still annoying. And, for me on that device, the UI doesn’t even exist to turn it off. If you do a LOT of surfing and expect the same speeds, it’s gonna irritate you :)

Repeating this from way upthread to see if anyone new has encountered: Does anyone here have Microsoft Office apps on Monterey? Since this OS beta, MS AutoUpdate has updates for all 5 apps, downloads them, and then the installations fail. Anyone else succeeding or failing at this?

I'm running version 16.50.

A week ago I switched from the slow-build channel (now called "Current Channel Preview" or something) to the standard channel due to the amount of diagnostics data MS now requires to run the former.

Probably because of this switch I'm not yet being offered any updates. I'll try and rememeber to post back here when I am.
