Well that really sucks. I was really optimistic that this would've been one of the behind the scenes updates that they include but don't talk about (since it should've been there from day 1).
I doubt we are getting it ever, maybe they just don’t wanna add it to safari or it would of been done

Not sure what you’re talking about. I just replaced an iMac HDD with a crucial SSD at work and it installed Monterey just fine.
There's some pretty big threads on it. Maybe because your system shipped with an HDD the installer skipped the firmware update step.

We will be getting it, it's just Apple departments not talking to each other.
I've been using 144hz scrolling with an external monitor for years.

They even point out how smooth Safari scrolling is during the Apple Event.

Still it should of been ready or a safari hot fix update should be out

You get 144Hz scrolling in Safari? Scrolling on the Mac on Safari is so choppy compared to iOS, I don't even get 60Hz.

For me, Safari scrolling is now very obviously 120hz. Make sure you don't have low power mode on.

You can also tell that Promotion is doing its thing because the frame rate ramps down in a bad way when the scrolling slows down. This behavior probably also exists in 60hz mode, but it was probably less obvious there due to the smaller drop.

Interestingly, testufo says Chrome is 120hz but says that Safari is still 60hz. Testufo also says that Safari is 30hz when low power mode is on, so I bet that Safari is still forcing some animations to stay at 60fps (for power usage?).

I never had any problems with Time Machine. Not on local disk, not on Synology NAS. Has Always been working flawlessly on 12.0.1 and 12.1 beta 1.

I hope they upgrade the performance in Monterey 15.1 on my 27” iMac as my search performance in Finder has been absolutely dismal.

Just got it installed. Something definitely changed with ProMotion, but it's still not right. Before, inertial scrolling was always 60hz, and never looked good. On this beta, maybe 1 in 5 swipes will be significantly smoother in the inertial phase, but the ramping up/down of the refresh rate is way more noticeable and jarring than it is on the iPhone. Grabbing the scrollbar in safari and dragging it is also still 60hz.

Something is deeply wrong with this feature. I tried turning off ProMotion and setting the screen to 60hz directly, and most of these issues get even worse. Dragging the scrollbar in Safari in this state actually looks like 30hz.

No it’s the same as before

Yeah, high refresh scrolling in Safari has been a thing since the old Mac OS X days. They just need to fix the implementation with ProMotion

Hmmm, trackpad gesture controls seem to no longer work when Safari is in focus. That's annoying.

For example, can't do 3 finger upwards swipe to show active windows, or three finger sideways swipe to change between apps. Putting safari out of focus fixes this.

Yep same here. Annoying.

just found out that it's probably connected to when the app is in fullscreen, in that scenario the finder/exposé completely loses it's mind and trackpad controls no longer works
