Apple changes to Yosemite 10.10.1

This was changed in build 14B17, but I do like how the font on the Spotlight Search has become finer.

It would be good to actually have the option to 'move' the obtrusive spotlight bar. I often use it for quick calculations and if the figures I'm copying is in the middle of the screen, it gets blocked by the (currently) immovable spotlight bar.

nb: yes, I'm eagerly waiting (and hoping) that Apple will formally enable systems with Bluetooth LTE equipped (as part of the factory specifications or added on in aftermarket changes) to access Handoff and Continuity without the need to modify KEXT etc. It's just feels like loyal early purchasers are being taken for granted or for a ride (IOW, betrayed). :(

Post edit: I updated to 10.1.1 (14B23) and it rendered my mid-2011 MBA's handoff feature for telephone calls useless, modified with Continuity Activation Tool. Now instead of making calls, it incorrectly reports that the iPhone is in use. Be warned. :-/

After installing this I could not reboot anymore because of the unsigned kext from the TRIM enabler for my Jetdrive SSD.
I had to follow these steps to remove the trim enabler from my Mac and after that the new Beta booted successfully.

Then I could disable the kext signature-check and install the TRIM enabler again.

I have 10.10 running on 3 Macs, the Mac Pro in my sig, a 15" 2008 mbp and a 15" 2013 rmbp. All 3 wake up from sleep mode about every 2-3 hours for a few seconds and then go back to sleep. This didn't happen with 10.9. I hope they fix this.

Wake on network events is turned off on all these machines.

Anyone know when OS X 10.10.1 is coming out officially? Cause with the Wi-Fi issues that are floating around, I'm not upgrading to Yosemite until the .1 version comes out.

I would guess within one or two weeks, but of course it's difficult to know for sure.

There are so many other performance bugs in Yosemite that I find it hard to believe that wifi is the only focus. maybe they will deal with the other bugs in 01.0.2..

Do you mean the Finer window resizing itself!? It's driving me insane.

try this workaround for now. Google "Finder Minder" (free). Every finder window will open in whatever position and size you set from then on.

Stable but...

Well.. I do have a stable connection so far however...

Pre upgrade I was getting 120mbs down and 25mbs up with Comcast albeit a flakey connection using IPv6 on 5Ghz WIFI. Solid on IPv4.

After 'upgrade', solid connection on both IPv6 and IPv4 but my download speed is now 25mbs and up is 25mbs. My wired connection on a Yosemite non-upgraded computer is 125mbs down.

Not sure what it's doing to make it stable but it's costing me some speed.

This should allow you to download the beta updates if you aren't a developer from 10.10.1 14B17:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.10beta-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz

Copy and paste it into terminal and then execute it and reboot.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Graphics Problem with 10.10.1 Beta 2

I have a new graphics problem with my Mac Pro (Late 2013) with 10.10.1 Beta 2, that didn't happen with Beta 1. I get the following error message over and over. Won't go away after being ignored. I tried resetting PRAM, no success. I may have to try and revert back to the last public release.

Hopefully you have a time machine backup.

Remember to report the bug. Apple doesn't read these forums but they do read bug reports from beta testers.

Is Preview still useless (and I don't use the word "useless" lightly) on larger PDF files in 10.10.1?

Oh well - I enjoyed it while it lasted... (2 emails) It is back to the delay. Normally the sound happens just as the screen notification slides off.

Is this just me?

Yes just you. What you're actually experiencing is a lack of ear eye synchronization. Restart your mind.

Nope, beach-balling still happens when a small confirmation dialogue pops up.

Also noticed that when I try to rename a file, the text box moves to the left of the file instead of staying where it is.

Anyone else seen that one?
