Feels snappier. Still has the bug where I changed my iCloud photo and it gives a weird thumbnail where it’s just cropped the bottom left corner of my Memoji.

Well this update made my iPad Pro M2 quite smooth immediately after finishing it.
Looks nice.

On the iPad battery life was surprisingly decent.
I am looking forward to checking how it behaves the next days.

I would not put this on the iPhone until final release, even though my hand itches because I am looking forward to the CarPlay changes.

First of all the battery life is quite awful in the early betas. Can’t say anything negative beside that so far from the first beta.
I’m pleasantly surprised how much better beta 2 feels. This is my spare phone though, no way would I risk it on my main!

Initial impressions on my iPhone 16 Pro:
- overall a “smoother” experience. Still a beta for sure, but even going to the Home Screen is smoother.
- Transparency of liquid glass is changed from what I can tell. Far more of a “frosted glass”.

no offence but its just nuts for the vast majority of people to go anywhere near a first draft developer beta.

It's just insane this time and ive never seen the like. People getting developer accounts and installing the software on primary devices in BETA ONE for goodness sake. This is not for the general public. This is for Developers who need the maximum amount of time to make changes to their apps and software for the new OS.

I dont think ive ever seen so many YouTubers and others positing video after video showcasing 'living with iOS26' after 2 days etc etc etc when they are on DEVELOPER beta 1.

There is a public beta coming - you have to wait a few weeks longer for it - but it will be MUCH safer than an early developer beta. I dont get why people illegitimately create developer accounts to get a bug-laden release that could easily result in catastrophic data loss when they just have to wait a few short weeks.
I’m not sure they asked for your opinion on this. Some people like to try out updates before they come - Apple knowingly allows this.

I am not a developer and have been running developer betas since iOS 5 when they introduced iMessage. I understand and acknowledge it’s a developer beta and I’m not going to complain about any bugs, etc. that I experience. But as Apple allows anyone to sign up for this - anyone can make the decision to try it.

No one is asking for you to preach about a developer beta and why you apparently feel some sense of superiority because you’re a “developer”.

Yes it’s a dev beta. Yes people can install it. Yes people should NOT complain as it’s really designed for developers to be able to prep for the public launch and for Apple to gain valuable insight. Don’t let the few people that can’t read the warnings of a developer beta stress you so much.

That being said - I do feel your annoyance with TikTokers and YouTubers doing their stupid rage bait videos about how buggy it is, etc. this does risk Apple making changes in the future - but these people will get a developer beta regardless of how much Apple locks it up (register UDID’s from the past, download an OTA profile, etc).

It’s wild to me people have nothing better to do than to gatekeep developer betas.

If somebody has the wherewithal to know what it is, how to install it (granted it’s easier now with profiles) and understands the risks, then by all means knock yourself out.

100% on point
But is the dumbness and the need for attention that increases more and more and these times.

Apple today provided developers with the second betas of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 for testing purposes, with the updates coming two weeks after Apple seeded the first betas following the WWDC keynote.
Friendly reminder to devs that in two weeks, Public Beta of iOS 26 comes out. YOU SHOULD BE RIGHT NOW WORKING ON DEVELOPING YOUR FIRST BETA OF iOS 26 APP WITH LIQUID GLASS UI READY FOR RELEASE ON TEST FLIGHT IN TWO WEEKS!!!!!

Otherwise, you’re already behind on development. Public Beta user feedback is going to be ULTRA important this time around so it’s IMPERATIVE that you have public beta ready to go for your app. It doesn’t have to be ultra polished, it can basically be a preview of what’s to come.

Anyone running the beta on an iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max and if so how does it feel?

The main issue is the battery drain on beta 1. My phone “died” twice in last two weeks. I had to reboot the phone to resolve the issue. Besides than that it is cool to test so far.

If you can endure the glitches or possible consequences, it's totally fine to update. If you provide tech support, either professionally or family/friends, it's a hard no for them to install. ;)

Maps is worse. Was already messed up. Now crashing.
Yikes! I was going to install it to test out the new CarPlay features, but if Maps is misbehaving then that defeats the point.

I often install the betas on my iPad but never my desktop Mac. For the iPhone I usually wait for the release too, but in this case I'm itching to try out the new CarPlay. I may still do it, but I'll hold off for a few hours at least to see some more reports about Maps and CarPlay.

Contrast in Control Center is fixed. Nevertheless, in the music app when scrolling, I think it’s still hard to read what song is playing etc.
Lol

I thought it was a feature. Not joking.

But yeah

I see what you mean now that is proper contrast.

Cheers.

It hasn't required a developer account in years. It's more insane to care about what people do with their own phones. The more people to report bugs the better the final release is.
