According to post #6 in this thread you do not need a registered UDID to install the b2 update. So I tried it and I can confirm that it does not check for a registered UDID. No problem with the b2 OTA update on my unregistered device.

Interesting, wonder if it's an oversight on Apple's part or if this is a change in the way they look at this now. Don't think giving access al-la Yosemite preview would work too many would complain about glitches, but if you have the capability to install yourself and accept the consequences then this may be good. Don't think it'll ever come to major releases though.

Something to keep in mind is that it can kick in even just randomly at some point. Usually it would happen during an update, but sometimes it can be after a restart or even without it--I recall there being some cases of that in the iOS 7.0 beta and/or iOS 7.1 beta days.

Let's say it does kick in and suddenly requires my device to be registered. If I don't want to pay to get my device registered, what are my options to go back to 8.0.2? I did a full backup to my PC via iTunes before installing 8.1b1. Would I just go into DFU mode and restore from my backup?

Yeah, pretty much recovery or DFU mode and iTunes to get the latest public firmware onto the phone and then restore from your (pre-iOS 8.1) backup.

First I heard of the Bluetooth Bug.
That explains the pairing problem I'm having with my car.
Funny how I thought it was my car that had the problem and trusted my iPhone. LOL :D

Does it [continue to] fix the Bluetooth calling issue with almost every car I can find?

Fixed in 8.1 b1 and stays working in b2. Both of my Toyota's were affected but 8.1 b1/b2 work fine.

Apple can't afford to have a bug fest unstable 8.0.X out there that long this time around

Let's try a little experiment. Please actually list me all the ios 8 bugs YOU have encountered so far to call it a bug fest. Ignore the 8.0.2 fixes and third party app instability that is obviously caused by the apps not yet being optimised for iOS 8 and iPhone 6.
I bet you cannot list 20.

I'm tempted to try the beta, but what you're saying here tells me to be patient and wait a couple of weeks.

Where are you guys downloading it from if you're not a developer? I want to try it since it doesn't require to be a developer yet. Thanks.

So far so much better than 8.0.2. I can scroll through all my photos without lag now. Amazing!

You can only officially get it from Apple through their developer portal.

Too early to tell, I'd imagine. I had it happen to me yesterday (again) on 8.1 BETA 1. Even more frustrating was that after that mini-crash my camera didn't work. Just a black screen when opening the app. Had to do a full reboot to get it working again..
Ugh. I haven't noticed that yet.

If the Crash to White Apple happens during a phone call, the person on the other end doesn't know. They just keep talking. You can't hear them for 45 seconds or so till the phone reboots.

Baaaaaad :apple:

Yep, exactly what happens. Still connected, but crashes!

I finally caved yesterday and upgraded just my iPad from iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 8.0.2, and I wish I didn't. When the iPad can't find the cellular data network and it displays the "No Service" message, the only way to get the iPad to ever see the cellular data network again is to power the device off and back on again.

With all previous versions of iOS, all I had do was toggle Airplane mode on and off, and the iPad would quickly connect to the cell network.

I wouldn't say that there have been too many "bugs", but there's just this general lack of polish and attention to detail that is unacceptable coming from a company like Apple. The choppiness when switching from the list view to a specific city in the Weather app. Flicking through the default wallpapers, you can see choppiness. The status bar still showing when viewing pictures in Messages. The "folder popping" glitch, where if you look at the corners of a folder as it's finishing opening they suddenly pop in. Summoning and then quickly dismissing Control Center, the shadowing effect glitches. Occasional stutter around the OS at random times. I could go on and on. These may seem minor but they add up for the people who actually notice (by the way I'm running it on an iPhone 6)

This is very annoying on my iPad 4.

Also, Safari is glitchy and I can't use it consistently. Currently using another browser. I'm hoping by the time this beta goes GM these issues will be fixed.

Mhm. The stutter is present on my iPad Air as well. Pretty frustrating.

I believe your post described exactly what I'm experiencing. Selecting wallpaper in settings I experience a delay and scrolling through wallpaper is jerky.

To me it just screams of lack of optimization. I don't remember these types of things cropping up pre-iOS 7. But they need to get their act together ASAP.

Are you running the beta and still experiencing these issues?

I'm still on 8.02.

You know, there are probably plenty of areas that could be optimized. I remember the spotlight search always stuttering on a iP5S with iOS 7. In iO8 it's perfectly smooth. In an early iOS 8 beta the multitasking selection was faster and more responsive. I'm very disappointed that this didn't make it into the GM, but this may return in a future release.

I'm totally with you, there is definatly some lack of optimisation, especially on the iPads. To call it a bug fest however is a joke. 8.1 beta 2 fixed the weather lag and other unoptimised parts so it should be much better in 1-2 weeks. My iPhone 6 is running pretty sweet

I'm not the one that called it that by the way. That was some other guy. Lol
