That was my thinking as well but this is a metal capable device, meaning all the UI should be drawn on hardware and should be fast. So either Metal needs additional memory to operate efficiently, IOS 9 requires more memory or a combination of factors is at play here.

Why would it need more memory? According to Anandtech, the devices don't run out of memory when the stuttering occurs, so it's related to bad coding in relation to the use of Metal.

It's funny how people believe this. iPads with larger screens and 1GB of RAM ran iOS 8 perfectly smoothly. iOS 9's lag is down to poor optimisation, commonly found in early builds of iOS. So far 9.2 has returned by iPhone 6 and Air 2 to near 8.4.1 levels of performance, and that's only beta 1. By the time this goes public I have a feeling users of newer devices will be very happy.
But does your beloved iPad need to downscale like the 6 Plus?
Nope!
So it's a combo of both, the limited memory and the downscaling issue that takes up the processing resources.

No but my "beloved" iPad has far more pixels to push on a far higher resolution display (iPad 3, 4, and Air), so these larger UI components comprising of far more pixels would be far more taxing on that same 1GB of RAM if that was truly what was causing it.

RAM alone is NOT the sole reason for any lag on an iOS device. It's not as if iOS devices on 1GB of RAM using the exact same UI components lagged before the introduction of 2GB in the latest S series of iPhones.

This statement is not only inaccurate, but offensive and racist af.

are you serious? in no way was that comment racist, it was a simple observation that apple rushed to get the devices into the hands of the residents of China that the devices were being released to. If that offends you, I seriously suggest that you stay off the internet, and keep locked in your tin foil home.

It's the downsampling of the 6 Plus' screen resolution that caused the lag

I don't see anything racist there. I think you are over reacting, and overly sensitive.

Imagine you sell 1 candy at $1 to 200 Chinese people. Out of a pool of 1.3bn people, there are many potential customers. That is the reason the market is so lucrative. Also, even Tim confessed Chinese consumers are one of the biggest reasons why Apple has a gold iPhone - they are marketing their products towards them, not towards you.

Don't be so fragile.

I think the problem was that it seemed like you were implying that all Chinese people are buying iPhones lol. Not saying it was a big deal but I could see how people interpreted it that way.

What app are you trying to do this with?

Safari view controller is an in app view of safari and not safari itself.

Just wondering as most apps I use haven't taken advantage of the view controller yet
Overcast 2.0.2.

hmm I didnt read it that way but what if he was? How is implying all X people buy iPhones racist? Again he didn't imply that but that simply Apple was rushing the software to fill that need.

Yeah, actually it does.
No, it doesn't.

1) RAM doesn't do **** at drawing the graphics, GPU does.
2) This stuttering mess wasn't happening in 8.x, while RAM amount has stayed the same.
3) Even 6S stutters in certain places.

Yes, pull down search lags.

Can we move on please?
No, we won't until this **** is fixed, specially not while they're excited for more revenue, we have to see those empty promises on performance and enduring even worse one. Talking on WWDC is cheap.

I think the issue was that only China was mentioned when the iPhone 6s was released in quite a few places.

The new app switcher behavior if you have reduce motion on is super annoying. It snaps to place now, can't describe it properly.

Yeah, actually it does.

No it doesn't. There are no constraints of RAM when the device is stuttering/lagging. It's an exchange between the coding of how the gaussian blur is rendered with Metal, which is related to the performance of the SoC.

RAM is solely about keeping things in memory, or terminating apps when there's not enough left.

I have to admit Apple has been killing the beta testing game. I enjoy being a part of it all so far. I'm using iPhone 5 with Verizon and the 9.2 PB 1 has ran really smooth. Also, what issues are people having with Siri? It's been working amazing and works extremely well with my Bluetooth headphones and Apple music while in the gym.

Are you confirming that Siri is now (via the new beta) working via headphone mic? If so, that's awesome to hear!

I hope you misread that or trolled because there is zero racism in that post.

Anywho, my battery life took a pounding. Dropped 30% on standby over the past hour. Then again my battery percentage is never accurate as the actual battery may be a dud. All I know is I'm at 25% with four hours of usage and five standby. Yikes. All I've done is stream siriusxm for an hour and use iMessage and Safari.

Then again yesterday it dropped to 30% from 94% in four hours while in airplane mode the entire time. Has to be a dud battery.

Except everything else being fixed is much more important. And the performance on most things is improved on my 6+.
