At the same time there's the the DND icon which also uses the crescent moon and makes it somewhat strange to have two icons that use that. On top of the OS control appearing at the bottom of CC while all the other controls are appearing at the top.

That's true. Though the DND icon was always a pretty lazy design (how does moon = don't disturb me?) and should be updated. I also agree that it should be at the top if it's an actual toggle and doesn't take you to Night Shift settings.

What is the "-99" where the carrier signal strength dots usually are (in the screencaps in the original post)? Is that part of the beta, or a jailbreak feature.

It's field test mode that displays the signal strength in numerical form. Could be done without a jailbreak for quite a while.

Why, oh why, would Apple add NightShift to Control Center? It's not like this is a feature that users need to turn on and off on a regular basis.

Maybe I'm just getting old and crotchety, but it seems like I used to be on the same page with regard to changes that Apple made, and I won't be so cocky as to say that Apple is objectively "wrong" about this, but I can certainly say that it seems like a laughably poor choice to me.

This is a control center button that I will never use, and as a result of it being there all the other buttons that I DO use are now smaller.

Come on, Apple. Go back to being really thoughtful and take this out before this update ships, or at least give your customers some more control over iOS.

Well maybe a lot of over people might actually find it useful? I have to keep going into settings to turn it off while I look at photos as the public beta hasnt got this control yet. Looking forward to it being added.

For developers only, or also the common man?
No need for jailbreak. Go to field test then press and hold power. As soon as you see saying turn off your phone release then press home button. Now your dotted signal is numeric

How? What's the settings tweak?

Here’s how it’s done:
  1. Dial *3001#12345#* on your iPhone then press Call.
  2. You'll now enter Field Test mode. You'll notice a signal strength indicator on the upper left hand corner of your screen. You can toggle between signal strength bars and a number by simply taping on it. At this point, press the home button to exit the app or if you would like the feature to be permanent, continue on. Don't worry, the process is completely reversible.
  3. Hold down on the Power button until you see the ‘slide to power off' bar. Do not power off the device.
  4. Press down on the Home button until the app closes and you return to your home screen. (NOTE: Some report that this does not return you to the home screen. Powering OFF your phone while in FIELD TEST mode will accomplish the same thing.)
That's it. Even when restarting the iPhone, the signal strength can be toggled between bars and numbers. The closer your number is to zero, the stronger your signal is.

The lower your number, the stronger your signal—but don't include the - sign when evaluating (so, if the signal says -60, that's better than -90).

To return to the default bars permanently, follow these steps:
  1. Dial *3001#12345#* on your iPhone then press Call.
  2. Press on your Home Button once.
This trick may come in handy when you're in a dead zone and need to know where to move to for a better signal.

Nope, no restrictions on. Was there before upgrade. Tried turning restrictions on, disallowing apps and re-allowing to see if it would kick it back in. No good.

Why do you want cellular toggle? What's your purpose? You can always hit the airplane mode.

Cellular data is expensive in my country and I always need turning it off to save data.

There should be an easy way to turn it on and of just like there is such option for wifi

Go back a few years and the whole idea of contro center would have been unthinkable. So I take what I can get and hope that over time more and more things will open up.
Good point. Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed with regard to this issue. I guess I just feel like I've been waiting 9 years for Apple to take the handcuffs off of iOS and it just seems like they are really uninterested in doing that.

It's similar to DND which has been in CC since the beginning.
Except the DND is EXACTLY the kind of feature that should be easily user-togglable, while NightShift is intended to turn itself on and off automatically.

DND has scheduling as well. And Nigh Shade is a feature that might need to be turned off temporarily at various times in the evening when it's on and someone wants to take a photo or a video or watch a video and would want more accurate colors.

Man, if Apple only included a switch in Settings to control that... might look something like this:

Downloading OTA atm.
My iPhone is not recognizing an OTA update I have a question. I read about the new developer profile you can install so Beta updates will appear like they do for public beta testers is that now required in order to have access to OTA updates vs the old method of using iTunes to install the first beta and installing the rest OTA?
