I really wonder why they did not name it 11.2.3. Its very awkward to me... Or dont they hire people that can count till ten anymore?

Maybe they’re Monty Python fans? Remember the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch from The Holy Grail? The guy kept counting 1, 2, 5!!! instead of 3.

My 2¢ anyway.
It seems that at some point Apple had some fixes/changes they wanted to be in an upcoming bug fix release that they wanted to test with developer and public betas so they designated that release as iOS 11.2.5 leaving some room for potential bug fix releases that might need to be released prior to that (due to some security issues or something else important/sensitive that can't really wait).

That's what everyone said about: iOS 7,8 & 10 as far as I can remember. 9 was pretty wel received imo. iOS 6 was decent but was broken because of the state of Apple Maps. Can't remember previous versions.

Nah, iOS 11 is objectively worse than any previous release in terms of bugs, performance slowdowns, crashes and widespread issues. It's ridiculous, and what's even more ridiculous are the people who delude themselves into thinking it's fine and totally isn't worse than any previous releases because it doesn't directly affect you.

Maybe it’s time to admit we all have rose tinted glasses when it comes to iOS and maybe it isn’t really that good?

It's simply the best of a OK to good bunch. Eventually in later version most of the big issues are resolved.
IOS 9.3.5 is working fine on a very old Ipad 2.
I still got a late IOS 6 version on a still working Iphone 3GS.

Maybe Apple should recommend people that cannot stand any little slowdown to their phones to wait until at least later X.2 versions to upgrade. Those people know who they are (or least they should know).

People should be able to get a new OS and not deal with bad performance. Android 7.1 to 8.0 meant a performance improvement. 10.3 to 11 meant worse.

For plenty who found iOS 9 quite bad because of various issues they've had that wouldn't really hold up.

Downloaded 3rd beta of 11.2.5 however had to restore back to 11.2.1. Battery life was killing me. How have the recent beta releases been relating to battery life. I'm on iPhone X.

I’ve been running all of them all on my year old 6s and I have the impression that today’s beta is burning battery faster than yesterday’s. (Greetings from my Lightning Cable).

I'm not saying that iOS 11 isn't the worst version, imo it is, the bugs I've encountered are countless. But let's not kid ourselves it's not the first time and it won't be the last time. We often see that with x.3 and x.4 update the stability dramatically improves and that will happen again.

Why not post some facts instead of just using strong adjectives and generalizations like “widespread issues” and “performance slowdowns.”

Most opinions seem to be around throttling, but that doesn’t even impact most phones...or at least new ones and how many old ones NO ONE knows. Here, the haters just say it’s everyone.

I think PIP is on iPad or should be on iPad. I expect PIP, split-screen multitasking, and other features like that on iOS 12.

yup I've seen how well it works on a pixel 2. It's pretty awesome.

The split screen on an iphone X will be less awesome due to the notch and rounded corners.

We don’t have to, but that is the way it seems to be since I started with iOS.

I think it’s gotten worse over the years, though. We have processors that could run laptops and still can’t get a solid 60fps in iOS. I’m talking about my X.

Because they are deluded. They're making assertions and assumptions without evidence. I could say the same, that it's pretty rude, as well as ignorant, for these very people who are contradicting my direct experience just because, let's face it, it isn't affecting them.

So now it’s “your experience”? Because previously, you called it “objective”.

Nobody is denying that plenty of people have had a subpar experience with iOS 11. However, your previous post made gross generalizations with virtually no evidence to back it up.

Thanks but, I think I have enough of this stupid site. It's full of ignorant fanboys who cheerlead Apple and minimise and make excuses for the company no matter how atrocious or inexcusable their recent products have become. It's stupid and I'm sick of it. Bye.

Funny. I sometimes feel like Apple could sell a cure for cancer at $5 per person and people would still find a way to complain. Doesn’t mean this site doesn’t have some cheerleaders, but it also has a rather surprising amount of critics, I find.

And with iOS 11 in particular, I’m very disappointed in just how generalized, unspecific, hard to diagnose much less fix that criticism is. To some on here, iOS 11 is apparently just plain bad, with little further information to even pinpoint what they are talking about.

You could get used to it after a bit if they bring it on over to iOS 12.

Well with the smaller resized windows on the iPhone x screen that notch would definitely be noticeable on one of the windows if you go full-screen mode unless it's implemented only in non-full screen mode.

Right... Funny how you seem to forget how crappy early X.0 Android versions were. Go and look for it.
Almost all early Android versions are riddled with issues. The reason you hear less about it is that it often takes a long long while, even months, before a substantial number of people have it. Adoption curves show this quite clearly.

In one day, IOS can be on more phone than a new Android version will be in 2 months.
That kind of exposure reveals obviously a lot more edge cases, especially on earlier devices.
Often new Android versions are on new phones initially certainly not 2 year old phones.

So, what on earth are you even comparing!
