To be honest I am avoiding this new OS release until next year. Apple see, to push software developers to meet hardware release dates, this was clear last year and Big Sur was full of bugs that should have been resolved. As much as I want to I am going to avoid this in case I fall foul of the problems I had last year.

Please bear in mind this is like the bug fixed version of Big Sur. That's how i see it, and tbh, it's way more stable than big sur ever was. The new tech that they were supposed to introduce "universal control" isn't even in it yet, and it's beta 7, so this is just Big Sur 2.0.

I wonder if there's any sign yet of this year's dynamic desktop image? I am getting a little concerned by it still being a no show at this relatively late stage. I find it hard to believe that Apple would drop such a distinctive visual element after only a few years of life

That's an error, i had that too. You need to stop it and re-do it until you find the 2.xxgb update.

EDIT: Mine failed, and upon restarting the update, is now also downloading a 10.94gb version. Any know which is the correct one? Did they pull the delta 2.xxgb one?

Update still not showing up on my M1 air. Removed the profile and reinstalled too

EDIT: after another reboot and another check for updates it finally showed up

I've re-installed the profile a few times and only ever get that 11gb version

Has just appeared in software update for me:

Code:
❯ softwareupdate -l
Software Update Tool

Finding available software
Software Update found the following new or updated software:
* Label: macOS Monterey 12 Beta 7-21A5522h
    Title: macOS Monterey 12 Beta 7, Version: 12.0, Size: 2306336K, Recommended: YES, Action: restart,

Totally rebooted my machine, it's now downloading the 2.36gb delta.
